I decided to take a paintbrush to TR Astrotrain to make him more G1 toy like. I was looking for images and found this really cool TR artwork that I decided to base my changes on:


So I painted his head crest, added a cardboard visor, black lines on the wings and tailfins, highlighted the engines and matched colours on the arms and legs (de-spatified him  )...I also modded his two guns to match, here is my recreation of the above pic:



And some traditional G1 comparisons with my scratchbuilt G1 gun:


And a solo of the shuttle showing the engines and painted train wheels:

If Astrotrain looked like this out of the box, I'd buy him in a heartbeat.

 

Good work! I love how much these figures improve with some paint in the correct places, like the head crest and the wing tips.
Did you work on the train mode too? I'd like to see that one also.

 

I only painted the wheels, so i didnt post any pics....i dont have him in train mode much so i didnt see much that needed changing and anything that did would be very small and fiddly...like windows
