TW Prime sample
Fuck me, that looks gorgeous.
I'd even take it in blue like that.
Heck yeah, TARDIS Prime!
Smurfimus Prime looks cool
Looks nice for a cancelled figure.
Clearly Hasbro shut this down.
It's obvious we should surmise that this new blue look will be the final deco, and this is Toyworlds way of avoiding upsetting Hasbro
Oooh or maybe it's a tribute to that random scene in S.O.S. Dinobots where Optimus was blue for no reason :
In all seriousness though it's interesting to see the die-cast placement. Did we know that before? I wonder why the mouthplate or sun visors would need to be die-cast. Just to add to the overall premium feel or adds just enough weight/ balance to the upper bot.
Also this discussion about G1 fans... I get that a lot of us can be bad at times, but let's not pretend there hasn't been a single thread about a G1 Masterpiece that hasn't had a fan of other continuities come in and say G1 was stupid/ badly drawn/ simplistic designs/ etc etc. I think the fandom in general can be quite bad at accepting there's more to the franchise than just their favourite/ childhood continuity. We should all be happy there's something different for everyone without feeling the need to vehemently defend our preferences and denigrate others. Just my 2 pence.
Damn it! They finally make the full blue Prime from that Dinobot episode, and it's the movie version!
Not fair, I tell you...
I'll be waiting for reviews, but I really want this figure. I've grown to love the trilogy movie Prime (hated the knight version), but this version would have been great if it had appeared in 2007. I know this figure is way too big to go with anything in my collection, and I won't get anything else his size, but I want this. Hope he turns out to be solid.
EDIT: Freakin' ninja'd!
Ah yes, the first repaint
The head looks different. Looks better now. Great! Eyes seem smaller and forehead is more proportioned.
Hey you’re right! The eyes and faceplate have been changed from the looks of it. Faceplate doesn’t look to have raised details anymore but rather sculpted into the actual mouth plate. Also the eyes now have a light up feature..... unless.... what if this is that extra head that was laying beside him at that one convention?
Here’s a picture that might support this. As you can see there was an extra head just sitting there and no one really paid attention to it.
Wow this is just a flawless robot mode.
In G1, it was 2 cents, not pence. Quite trying to bring your other continuities into this!
Yeah, that was a bad joke but I really couldn't think of a better way of doing it.
I was gonna ask if anyone else saw that the face appears different. It’s subtle but it looks soooooo so much better now!!
Good lord, that looks beautiful. The price is a little on the heavy side though, with it running close to 150. But if I eventually get this guy, I'll probably design and print the his dotm axe for this guy. Really dig the design, but I'm kinda concerned about whether or not the alt mode will still have those molding imperfections seen on the prototype.
Looks great. Hopefully the quality is on par.
But if their designer were to run now and sell it for half the price, I am good with that too.
But TW interpreted that detail the other way around: The detail on their OP faceplate is raised instead of being engraved like it should be. 3A know this since they have the ILM files and do it correctly but without mudding the sculpt by doing ALL of the lines like TW tries to do. There is a limit to the amount of fine detail you can have in plastic if you want it to be durable. For the size of their head, 3A limit the amount of detail but keep the important shapes for a better overall result.
The TW head looks like it has weird geometric barnacles on its faceplate or left over sprue marks and looks off on the other hand since that raised detail is not accurate.
The UT Megs head might lack the fine detail but it nails almost all the shapes.
With some washes and picking out some of the detail you could get something very nice:
tbh that megs head hasn't changed all that much there, so I'm still confident in my statement that it needs more detail.
Anyways....I think its time we drop this convo given its not his thread.
also, thank you for making me realize even 3A screwed up the face. TW raised the details while 3A sunk them in, meanwhile the actual model just has panel lining.
Even with guns, I think there is a good reason for what type of gun he uses for each situation. During the KSI raid, he used the massive tri barreled gun because he needed to scare the humans away with sheer intimidation. Not sure what happened to that gun, probably got reformatted into his shield(also 3 barrels)
The way this fandom has been divided, it's really difficult to say who is a 'hater' and who is just trolling. The way someone perceives beauty is similar to the way he finds good in the world. Naturally, nobody wants to be told that their interest 'is not good'. It's not wrong to be critical towards a work of art, in fact it may even be constructive if it is clever and thoughful. But just keep in mind that critics usually are not celebrated people, for the above reason.
