I’m happy with them. Accessories like these that don’t drive up costs are always welcome.

(Example of bad accessories is that idw prime that comes with a giant bike that takes up half the cost.)

All that personality it adds to the set doesn't fit Optimus Prime in my mind, which is why I don't like them. Also I don't feel like I need them. Also they're not screen accurate. What if the next movie comes out and he has an axe that's twice as cool as these anime-looking things? I'll want those instead.

Exactly why I don’t want the extras ;)  Seriously though it’s great for those who want them but I’m at a point in my life and in my collecting where I really don’t need or want extra things that will just live in a box or drawer. I only want the essentials, and aside from the extra bits to convert him to his earth look and the two blasters that were seen onscreen I don’t want the rest.

I get ya man. that’s why the standard version exists. :p

Will say tho, I’ve seen a lot of “why would I want this” when this stuff is for the deluxe version..... something you have a choice of not paying for.

Honestly, I've never been a fan of Optimus with an axe, even back in the G1 days. I always thought it was dumb. Maybe because I've always preferred swords to axes.

Standard version still comes with all the known weapons, though, which is what Shmoptimus was getting at - he'll still have plenty of cupboard pieces. Only known extras the deluxe version has are the display stand and blast effect pieces. Plus, of course, whatever's in the boxes (assuming it's not just the boxes themselves) and the little present indicator (which they both had but could vary as to what it means) from the pictures Cheem posted here.

That's the sad thing about being "early" with this release. More of this design will be revealed in the next movie making this toy even more inaccurate.

Following what showz has listed, 2 of the guns, axe, blast effects, and stand are in the deluxe version only.

It's not a bad thing for a toy to be based off an earlier version of a design. For example, mpm optimus was based on the first movie design, instead of DOTM. But that doesn't make the figure any less appealing, because not everyone likes the changes to optimus' design in DOTM. In the end, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and newer isn't always better. But it does help to sell toys, and that may be the intention.

Unless what you are trying to say is that freedom leader is not 100% accurate to the CGI model. Well, i believe you can find clear shots of the CGI model on google. Its really close to the model, as it is now

That's what I mean. The odds are good that we'll see the ax and matrix eventually for this model.

And if the movies continue to skew towards G1 there's no way the axe will look like the one they're including here.

My personal taste is that I prefer when Transformers are not anime-inspired. It just makes them blend in with all the other big robots out there. No one would mistake a bayformer for a gundam or a power ranger or whatever. They truly are unique and I like that.

Toyworld is making a Bumblebee with 3 or 4 repaints, so I'm hoping they can atleast remake Optimus' head.
The mouthplate is too big, the ears are too thick, the cheeks aren't wide enough, and his eye sockets are too small.

its confusing cause that model on the right might not be the actual movie head, and the head seems spot on to the model in this picture, yet something is off, and I can't identify it...

I think the eyes are too sunken in, especially since they are physical and not luminous like the cgi

Yeah I think maybe the eyes are set too deep into the sculpt and also quite squinty, and the mouthplate is just a little bit too big. The details on the mouthplate on that pink sample also appear a bit too raised, or 3D, whereas in the film screenshot they're just line details on the surface.

Kinda unrelated, but it's funny that headscuplts are being criticised on both this thread and the UT Dragoon thread at the same time

Eyes are less rounded and are more sunken in on the ToyWorld figure. Also, the faceplate/chin not only looks like it sticks out a bit, but also goes more down past the line of his head than in the movie

Can't really use these two images as a comparison. Optimus is looking up, wide eyed (maybe "jaw" agape too) in the screen cap. I do notice that the cheek area is pushed in further though.

Add the official MPs to the list. Bee V2 balloon head. Hound with small eyes and gimmick caused protruding forehead. Smokescreen+ with his chin.

I applaud the sculptor for this headsculpt. The proportions are a bit off, but the overall feel and detailing is there. UT is like a Playskool toy in comparison.
