No it's a voyager version of Don Figueroa's comic design for Optimus, just like the legends figure is.

 

It's pretty average looking. Hardbone didn't exactly blow me away either.

I'll wait and see how it turns out because I do want to like it but I'm certainly not preordering it.

 

Sticking with Faith Leader over this for my display. The concept art looked good, but the color execution is just terrible with both the head and the upper chest. The unobscured red panels behind the translucent plastic makes me wonder why they even bothered - in a comic book it works because they don't show the direct interior that way.

Either mirror the surface plastic, or paint the plastic behind the "glass" white/silver instead. The current implementation isn't even trying. Others have already adressed the issues with the head.

 

Looks nice. And he comes with a matrix. Are there trucks with windshields like that? Everything else converts nicely that it stands out.

Doesn't look like Hegemon's opposite number is very popular. Are these the actual in hand colours though (I remember igears min guy's colours didn't quite come out as advertised)?

Eyes and chest are a let down however, what other Prime toy looks right next to Hegemon and also scales with the majourity of CHUG Autobots?

 

Interested, but not in a hurry to get, what with BBTS being the only ones open to pay later preorders.

I'm willing to forgive small issues and even a few easy fixes. I loved Hegemon and Hardbone was alright once I tightened up the arm slides. If I'm able to get behind that clear plastic to paint it (or the back walls that make it pointless), I'll let the shape of the head and chest go.

Just googled faith leader and hegemon....there is no way Prime is a head taller than megatron.

And same the other way (i.e. Henkei Prime).

 

DubK Toys has them for $100 shipped in the U.S.

 

I was really excited about this figure when it was in proto form and now with the toy color version, it doesn't look as appealing as the mock ups that were done by some board members...

 

My thoughts as well.

I want to like this more but the gap in the chest that remains in alt mode is not acceptable to me, especially since this is a $100 product. There should be a reasonable design alternative to what is shown in the prototype.

I wouldn't accept this design issue in a $30(MSRP in Canada) Voyager class toy.

 

Looks like they won't be fixing the boxiness or his head...

 

I prefer the fan mock ups as well.

 

It's in serious need of some paint (lots of paint) and I can't tell if it's just the lighting or if they somehow messed up the eyes, but those eyes look bad.

 

  So close, yet not there. The overall shape of the bot needs more angles to make it more dynamic. This was the toy that was gonna make a REAL mark in future customers minds and they missed it IMO. Its a pass for me, come on Has/Tak~Tomy daddy needs a new voyager Op Prime & not Hedgemon Megatron! Keep that IDW trend going with some voyagers!

 

Somewhere deep in Hasbro's lair, the designers are seeing this & falling over laffing.
