I'm the same way--isopropyl is my go-to, and I have both the 71% and 90% depending on the paint. It's exactly like you said; some stuff comes right off, others you need to work at. Only mentioned the clear-plastic thing as I've come across it a couple of times. I won't say 90% causes that every time on clear plastics, but I think it's safer to use something else in that case.

And I'd heard of oven cleaner but never used it. I also remember Brasso was a good one for plastics, and I used to use it when I was customizing Alternators way back when.

Anyone ever buy a constructor from TerryTFsclub before? Just checking to see how he is with aftersales and getting parts from TW if necessary. I would assume most Chinese retailers have a good hookup for parts. Showz is good too. Looking at their X version for 649 shipped. Yes, I know that TFS has theirs for less, but sourcing parts if something breaks is not one of theirs specialties and I think that is par for the course for American retailers. You save upfront, but there is always the risk. If it’s a FT product that is easy because we have the forum to hit up their rep.
So yes, I would pay a premium, but I would consider that like paying for insurance in case something goes a muck with my constructor. It can happen.
    Thanks!!

Agreed. I put in a preorder forever ago with ShowZ for $453. Might have to switch over to ChosenPrime at $399. Not sure what's up with TFSource and TFDirect - it's $599 there.

Man, the world will never forget the day Devastator went looking for his lost dog.

This was my first time stripping paint. I used 99.9% isopropyl alcohol but man it was hell. Some parts were really hard to get rid of and some parts wouldn't even come off. In the end I'm pretty happy with the result. That's all that counts right?

Nice! How do you like the joints? Is he a definite improvement over the first versions? I’m toying with the idea of getting him now and paying the premium shipping cost. I have no patience for an August release from TFS. LOFL! Kudos man!

Yeah I used 99.9 and struggled like hell too. They're scratched to hell, though you can't tell from a few feet away... I'll be all over a re-release of the green thighs!

99.9%?? Weird. Mine is only 91% and I let it soak... the paint came off with my finger and with a qtip except for in the nooks and crannies, where I used a soft toothbrush.

Yep, I was so jealous of you! I had to scrape like my life depended on it! I soaked for 3 days airtight, and it took me forever...

Mixmaster has been tinkering with the paint formula, hasn't he? lol... I wonder if yours just got a better cure or better stabilizers.

Possibly. One of the few times I'd have preferred a shitty paint app!

It'll do for now, but if I get hold of some genuine green thighs then I'll buy them - and then get some plastic putty into the scratches, sand back, and re-spray them silver...

I really like the stiff joints as he holds his poses very well and I use a screwdriver to push the ratchets out when moving them. I wouldn't know if he's any better than previous versions since this is my first one. Got him from Show Z. Back in december but it took well over a month to arrive.

It took me over 2 week and sore hands to get the job done. After the first day I was thinking "what have I done"

Yeah, my thumbs in particular are wrecked! I ended up wearing disposable gloves, but then I couldn't buy any new ones in shops...something about high demand because of some virus or something??? ;)

Seriously, just shitty timing, so I re-used them, but of course the 99.9 weakened the gloves meaning they eventually split. Poor thumbs!

I’ll just have to wait till overseas pricing chills on the X version. I’m sure it will happen and I’m pretty certain people won’t pay that kind of premium. TFS will be a last resort.
