The anger rises once again...

I noticed this kind of thing on my Burden's legs. The plastic was so weak it literally tore a chunk out just like in this picture. It's really amazing how terrible the materials they used in these damn things are. Then on top of it all they have non-existent customer service and totally ignore the multiple problems of their garbage figures.

It's too bad. Constructor is still the best Devastator still out there but it's being made by an absolutely pathetic company. I wish they would sell the design off so an actual capable company could make copies that don't literally tear themselves apart when a stiff breeze hits it.

    F*** Toyworld. :mad

It's so frustrating that out of all the G1 molds Zeta made with Toyworld, this one had to be the one they left behind with Toyworld. Why couldn't they have kept this and left behind their weird looking Arcee or something? This is like the single mold they've made with no other options or even prospective options (aside from that dubious Vetron Lab figure).

That's happened to my X version as well, it happened all over the figure, the plastic cant even hold its own screws! Never thought a plastic toy could have such a problem, blew my mind.

I would hope that Zeta would have come up with a new design for a Devastator after leaving Toyworld. It isn't like TW owns the rights to Devastator anyways.

This really make me think my X version is already on borrowed time. Will seriously start researching where I can find a large batch/baggie of M2.6 x 12mm screws....

Yeah I'd love to see what they'd come up with nowadays. A pity they are currently devoting their time toward a combiner that never appeared in the American cartoon and thus I have no emotional connection to...oh well.

I luckily have one of the second run box sets, so he's held together fine. But even then, one of the bots came with two left arms in the box. TFS Express DID manage to source replacement parts from Toyworld for me, which is a minor miracle it seems... although Toyworld DIDN'T send the right parts! TFS Express were brilliant though and I managed to source a standalone replacement bot on eBay which they then refunded for me. Top class service from them.

It's so sad reading about all the issues with these newer versions. I'm really sorry folks :(

    Interesting and a helpful tip.

Question: did you to do anything with the screwholes or did the larger screws just fit in?

Other question, what was the length of the original screws?

Not who you asked but I will add my :2c: . The original screws are 7mm IIRC and I used M2 12mm screws as my replacements, not M2.6. Not sure whether M2 or M2.6 is the better screw, though.

The only issue I see is while the longer screws will get down farther into the post to actually hold, the posts are still made of the same brittle plastic so you just might be delaying the inevitable and shifting it to a different break point. I plan to reinforce the posts I put new screws in epoxy so they'll have extra strength.

@Sqlwizard seems to be the guru of fixing Constructor though so I hope he sees our plight and offers some advice to the suffering masses! :p

Did a precise measurement on a screw I pulled out of Hook this evening. I read it as M2.3 x 6mm long. Does anyone else get the same reading? My question now is - should I stay with the same thread size but go with a screw thats 12mm long? Or opt for a slightly larger thread size ie M2.6 to give it more bite as it self-taps its way in? Would HATE to damage or snap of the plastic post gif I went for a M2.6mm dia.

By the same token, will EVERY single plastic post that takes a 6mm long screw have another length to allow another 6mm of penetration??

Yea the size is correct, though the length depends..my rule of thumb, use add 2-4mm longer than original screw

Use longer screw instead of thicker one imo..

So @feeiq90 , you're confirming my measurement of M2.3 is correct?? Due to the ghastly reports of how brittle the plastic posts the screws penetrate into, I'm inclined to follow your suggestion of NOT going slightly bigger than existing thread dia and just penetrating deeper with same thread size - as you've suggested.

Thanks for the speedy response too BTW Bro.

Sorry i missed out your question..i didn't do anything to the hole, i opt to using longer screws to avoid straining the plastic any further..so i bought a few m2.3 of various lengths (12mm,16mm)..iirc i use thr 16mm ones more often than the rest..that totally depends on which part of constructor though

There was a KO shown at some toy show like 4 years ago but it never materialized.

Well that’s probably because TW was still alive at the time. Now that they are basically down, we should try and get one. Would have better QC.

Many toy maker nowadays like cutting corners on their plastic materials...Even there could be KO, I wouldn't bet on the KO of TW Devastator to have much better materials than the earlier version (like V1 & V2)

The metallic was built well as well, it seems like cell shaded and perfect edition are the ones riddled with qc
