Yep. Mine came with the foam packaging and I can honestly say I have had zero issues with it. Feel bad for those who are late to the game. That's a raw deal to get such an expensive figure made with inferior plastic.
So just out of curiosity, for those who have had major quality issues did you get yours from TFSource or an overseas retailer?
I got my orange set from TFSource soon after they put it on "sale" for $450 (original price $600). I say "sale" in quotes because they made it seem like it was a limited-time sale, part of the then-holiday-weekend sale (or something like that), but it has been "on sale" for that price ever since. Like, it's just part of their permanent "on sale" collection, now, and the price has been marked as "25% off!" for many weeks, giving the impression of a "deal". Better hurry up and buy it now! Who knows when the sale will end?!?!
I've seen them do this with a few other items before, where it seemingly goes on limited-time sale, then stays marked down forever, but the price on the page still makes it look like it's on a limited-time sale, and I find it really irritating. I don't see any reason for it other than to sell a few copies to people who comes across it without knowing the full context and think "Oh shit, look at this great bargain! I'd better hurry up and buy before this incredible discount disappears!"
I got mine from TFS
Sorry as a quick follow up..i dont blame TFS
.they are just the retailor..they ship what they get..mine was still sealed..they where the only US retailor i could find that had it..i think its a TW issue so idont know if you will have bettee luck buying elsewhere
Damn. There went that theory. Sorry to hear.
Yeah, mine is the "perfect" edition and it came late last year from ShowZ in the new and "improved" shitty clamshell packaging and it had a backwards crotch piece for one of the bots (minor problem that didn't affect transformation at all) and Burdens legs were broken due to all of the screw posts in the left leg cracking thanks to short screws and at least two of the posts in the right leg being broken.
So I doubt this was anything specific to TFSource. I think the plastic they use is just bad in general and the screws are too short in a lot of places. Plus I don't think the clamshell packaging did the fragile thing any favors.
Yea. I es just checking to see if perhaps the bad batches of this beast had gone to specific retailers in the US. Guess not. It’s an all across the board problem.
Totally agree, my cell shaded took lots of work sanding down pegs, oiling the tight spots, but after all that it's a great piece to display. I don't transform him anymore as he's perfect for Devy on display. The bot modes are also really good as display pieces!
Big 'n' Small
What version is this???
The OG original v1.
I’d really love to get the Cell Shaded version, I’m just not willing to risk it with the quality issues.
The problem with the cell version is that the extra paint makes those tight tolerances almost impossible to work with when combining. He looks great for individual display but if you want to show off the gestalt I would proceed with extreme caution. Or not at all.
For Cell Shaded, you will have to sand down the pegs and clips a little because of that paint job.
I also had to do a few other things, I've forgotten but I did post the issues and fixes in this thread some pages back.
Takes some effort but worth it in the end (for me at least lol).
With some high CRI lighting the colors come to life.
Lek Customs really did a great job on this figure.
Totally agree. The paint job is what makes it worth having. Almost sold mine, but backed off and kept it. So glad I did....
Fantastic shots, dude x
