    How weird.
Indy has 3 TRUs, and 2 are closing. The one not closing is the one closest to me, but it is also the dumpiest out of the 3, and not in the best neighborhood. I figured that would be the first one to close, but the other 2 are in higher-income areas, so maybe they are costing TRU more to keep open.
Anyway, at least there will be one around for the future.

EDIT: Just saw the correction that the 2 Indy closings are actually BRU locations. So it looks like all 3 Indy locations are staying open.

I also saw the one in Alpharetta GA is closing. I started shopping at that one shortly after it opened in the early 90's and even worked there for a year from '03-04. I still remember when they had the tickets for buying video games that you had to take to the front of the store. Also remember buying Beast Wars toys there.

I'm sorry your TRU work experience was so bad. I worked two separate summers at TRU while I was in college, and enjoyed it immensely.

(FWIW, I also worked a Christmas season at K-B the Fall after graduating from college, also a highlight of that season of my life. Doesn't mean I shopped there all that often, of course. Even I knew K-B's prices were crazy, just as TRUs are often so today.)

Well, I wonder what will replace the TRU at my place. I loved having two \"toy\" stores near me.

Rent/lease may be the top reason for many of these. If the lease was about to be up, it would often make more sense to ditch the location than to re-up for another five to ten years.

Nevermind, this is the Babies R Us in Columbia. Sorry if I created a panic.

What was so bad working here for you only bad experience I had working at ToysRus working night stock shift sleep all day work all night get one day off I will never night shift again at any retail store and when I ask to be trained to learn new stuff no one would train me then coworker talked down to me as some others have said who work there said he was joking he didn’t sound like he was joking when he said talk this guy first he doesn’t know how to do his job properly you loved working at ToysRus it was dream job night shift sucked you ask someone train you learn more responsibilities they tell you you don’t know how do you job it’s there fail for not training you when you asked for it I rather shop at ToysRus tHan Walmart any day

People shop online there stupid and lazy those people think there saving but there spending more paying online with shipping and handling plus tax on top of it it’s cheaper go store and shop if it was possible lazy people shop online would have food delivered to them without having to go Walmart and tops shop at same with having job

Here in Germany, where I live, is finding a Toys R Us sometimes harder then finding a rare Transformer online. The closest one to my location is still at least a houre driving away, so I wouldn´t even care if he closes or not because I mostly only buy my stuff online. And thats probably another big mistake Toys R Us did, placing too many shops in one place, instead of spreading them evenly over the country.

Honestly, I rather have Amazon exclusives than TRU exclusives.

I hope they can survive overall despite (or perhaps via) these closures. I know TRU is far from ideal, but at least it's a chain of stores dedicated to toys. What alternatives are left, really? In my town there is exactly ONE remaining toy store... and all it sells are designer/specialty items.

When I was a kid, there were multiple, plus Woolworth.

The Westminster, California one is actually a Babies R Us. There's a Toys R Us in Huntington Beach, about a few miles away, and that one is not listed. So it looks like more Babies R Us stores are closing than Toys R Us.

No stores in my area will be closing, which is good even though I rarely stop by since they changed their truck delivery schedule. I'm more concerned about the people that will lose jobs due to these closures. Too bad their awful online customer service reps will still be working, though.

Yoooo wtf news sites! (For clarification I mean actual news sites like usa today and ny times, not this site) This is some Fake news level bs... Do the due diligence! I searched the addresses of half the NY locations and these were all Babies R Us locations... not saying they aren't closing any TRUs cause I didnt Google them all but I searched like 15 and they all came up Babies R Us and BRU is a whole different animal than Toys R Us...

Yeah we know - it's all right in the FIRST post on the FIRST page...

Update2: that’s 94 babies r us, 47 toys r us, and some additional combos and outlets.

...but thanks for the "due diligence", Columbo.

I was referring to the news sites themselves, sorry if that wasn't clear. I saw this earlier on USA today and NY times , they mentioned nothing of babies r us
