Prem Watsa on BlackBerry, Canada and being a contrarian - Article - BNN
Awesome news!! Moving to Ontario this month!!!
Pretty good, ehh ?
Oh, and wouldnt it be something if TRU does so well that they expand into the States ?
Hell, I'd love to see it.
Alright, that's great news!!! now a Canadian company... damn
Just keep Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles out of there. Remember that thing with the model rocket ?
That may stem from this part of Watsa's comments in the 4/27 press release: Toys"R"Us Babies"R"Us
Well it will be nice if they can invest in the business instead of dressage horses.
One more reason for me to move to-err, I mean, visit Canada.
Hey, give them credit, Canadian TRU was the only one that was still profitable before the bankruptcy.
Nice! Glad to hear those folks can relax now, that must have been a stressful few months for them.
Can people on both sides stop it with this GD nuanced and insinuated political barbs ? One post about California getting kicked out and another about moving to Canada.
I may be a dummy a lot but c'mon.
That all a lot of people do here now - try to flame bait and try to circumvent the rules on forbidden subjects.
Let's keep this civil and on topic.
What other in-store innovations might be on the way? The press releases mentioned expanding "dedicated play areas, interactive stations for kids and mobile pay" from Langley and South Barrie to other stores. Are some TRU Canada stores in need of upgrades?
Portion of the store set aside for VR games. Go into battle with Optimus. Fight Thanos as Tony Stark, etc...
Rethink things. Completely. Make it an experience. Literally.
I think that's a bit of a far stretch. They don't own any IP, who is going to pay to develop those? And then TRU would be paying for rights to use them.
Experiential activities would have to involve products, it would be more like LEGO-building and such.
TRU Canada already does some weekend activities for kids in some stores, and it drives a lot of traffic.
and in New Jersey news the companies that bankrupted Toys rUs are now being sued for severance pay. Honestly i hope they get sued for more then just that
We need TRU up here as they’re pretty much the only large retail toy seller other than WalMart. No Target, Zellers is dead, Sears died, Kmart *long* gone here, and our online selections are more limited than down south. So yay for competition and TRU’s sales and coupons which might keep Wally on their toes a bit with toys.
well, now that part of TRU has survived, it now falls to the Canadian toy collectors to pour so much money into the business that it can afford to expand back out into the USA.
or maybe....what procedures does one have to go through to become a canadian citizen?
Yay! Another bonus everytime i travel to TFCon.
The St Catherines one is not far past the border so if i really feel the need to go to a tru, i live within a 1.5 hour trip.
