Ive been away for pretty good while. I just recently started back buying the "high quality" G1 Boxed KO figures. Ive seen lots of tutorials on how to spot the fake boxes but has there been any actual reviews of the toys themselves? I consider them unofficial reissues. Also, any plans for Japanese or US G1 reissues for the 30th anniversary? I still want a boxed Thrust & Ramjet after all these years!
the kos are pretty flawed, so the only review i can give any of the ones i've owned is don't bother, a worn out original is still better than any of those kos
No, there are no plans for reissues from Takara (or Hasbro) for this year, as of this time. Always possible future announcements could be made to squeeze something in before the end of the year or sometime next year, but don't hold your breath.
I just got the KO Reflector and was fairly impressed with the quality. Some looseness which was easily fixed with Future, some minor paint app issues which would probably exist on most originals. The packaging is stellar, styrofoam and fun graphics on the box. The funniest thing was the description of identifying a real Transformer figure in the instructions by the presence of a heat sticker. This one was missing that so embracing it is funny. Overall I really like it and for the price it's just right. I also recently got the Browning KO which is really more like an un-licensed reissue. Super High Quality on that one.
It's like the song video killed the radio star, in this case it's the Masterpiece line killed the encore reissues. Takara were killing it with the reissues until they rebooted the MP line. I think reissues are gone for good this time. With the past movie releases Takara usually reissue a few characters like Prime, Starscream, and Soundwave but have released nothing this time round.
I have alot the KOs already. I just keep them sealed so I guess ultimately, the auality wont affect me. BUT... I want to know that what I am paying for is at least half way decent. All I need to get are the Aerialbot, Technobot, Protectobot and Terrorcon giftsets. Then maybe get the five Dinobots. That sucks about reissues. Im sure MP will be the same way as the reissues. They willwind up having a hole in the series somewhere. Something like make Ironhide then never Ratchet LOL.
I was told by a guy at Toy Arena their KOs were made by the same factory who made the G1 toys so their quality is the same
I did open my Reflector since it was in the plain white box. It seemed ok to me. I just want to make sure the rest are similar.
