No doubt Toy Lab looks great, else I wouldn't even be in this thread on page 5. I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on him and I love love love that truck mode but I'm not cancelling my toyworld preorder. I'm still in for TW and Aoyi (the latter will likely be a deskbot) so I probably won't be getting TC or this one but who knows - I have the softest of soft spots for Prime so I may just end up with three or four versions of him.

 

Well, if it was my point of view I’d suggest ignoring scale and enjoy an awesome figure.

 

at this point we now have 3-4 awesome primes from this design all at the same scale, I think its perfectly reasonable to want at least one company to make one at a scale most people actually collect.

That’s 1 but we haven’t actually seen it. Plus their bumblebee doesn’t give me faith in the truck mode for prime

 

If they were going for scale, specifically with MPM-4, it would be 5.2"; if they are to scal with their own BB, then it will be under 10".

 

actually have a prime coming at that scale as well that scales with legends sized figures from the same line.

(and it's perfect for those who stupidly follow that random scale chart.)

Ah, but the problem is MPM-4 is out of scale, all the larger bots in the MPM line are quite undersized. Both the MPM carbots, and the g1 masterpiece line have roughly 1/29th scale robot modes. In order to match that scale, this optimus prime should ether be 9 inches, or 6.6 inches, depending on your preferred height for Bumblebee.

 

Between Optimus and auto hide, does MPM even have a scale?

And what is beholden to scale? The bot mode or alt mode?

This iteration looks good, almost like they're listening to feedback from the forums or something.

 

The agreed upon scale is generally 1/29th, as (as noted above) this is the scale that the MPM carbots, g1 MP line, most third party MPM manufacturers (especially the more prolific ones such as Toyworld), and KO companies like weijang and black mamba produce figures in.

As for which mode is given preference, the default has always been bot mode for MP figures with the notable exception of Mp-22. It is worth noting though that aside from blackout, starscream, lockdown, and nitro zeus, both modes should be able to be made in the same scale for bayverse bots.

I have a couple of each and no way MP’s are the same “scale” as MPM’s.

 

I think he means they focus on bot mode scale within each line.
