Same here. I'm not a huge fan of this design. I'd need it in MPM scale to really want it.

 

If you don't delay your product for a minimum of six months without a single update, are you even a 3rd Party company?

This really shows how badly TW fumbled the alt mode.

This figure proves that an accurate alt mode is indeed possible and the rear doesn’t need to look like they forgot to engineer the leg transformation.

 

Hmm, an MP of KV Optimus would have to be 5.2" in order to scale properly with MPM-4.

 

so i few things i'm hoping for:

1. hinges for the chest to not be flat, it seems that they sacrificed it for opening doors which i'm fine with but would be nice if they can still pull off the angled chest.

2. swappable smokestacks, since this figure seems to have ball jointed smokestacks they could easily pop off to allow people to swap them with straight ones for those who want a more accurate vehicle/ or prefer the look for robot mode

3. a trailer, this the most likely as slots and pegs can be seen on the back of the truck.

4. more bb figures, moving away from this figure i'm hoping to see their offering of other characters, it would be interesting to see them contest with tw's triple changers



on another note i want to say that i'm really dissapointed with tw's truck bed, their own knight orion did it well and pretty much every other 3rd party bb prime

 

If Toy Lab does release a trailer, I'd hope they go all out -
- No uneccessary inside grebbling.
- Undercarrage has a proper spare tire/MP-44-like storage space.
- Proper silver coating the outside.
- Rubber tires/flip out kickstands.

 

It's amusing that when I now see an accurate enough bot mode the first thing that I do is look at the back of the truck. This looks really good and gives Toyworld some competition.

I think it is more of a case that is a movie design that G1 fans like more than anything else seeing as G1 Optimus seems to dominate the market. There were always movie fans for example, but we didn't get too many Bayverse Optimus figures. It's the G1 fans liking the design that is most important, based on the evidence.

Just because 3P has shown that movie figures are possible to make that doesn't suddenly mean they're going to be perfect. It feels like especially with the DevilSavior Devastator that people forget that these designs are still complex and that inconsistencies in the proportions is a result of or the sacrifice for the figure to still transform and be recognisable.

 

Toy Lab will have my money for this...  
EDIT( comment on 01/16/20): leaving in my original comment and rescinding the sentiment, but now see I jumped the gun WAY too early. This being just a cg render as of the comment and still this post. MW/Weijiang M09 is my number 1 BB Prime...and so far no second. But interesting renders.

 

amazing how many 3P groups came outta the woodwork when they suddenly made Optimus a damn cab-over truck again...

 

i really hope hasbro looks to these third parties when making studio series figures for future movies but that also makes me ask if they've ever don't it before? i've heard people a while back say that ss bayverse prime had a lot of similarites with a third party prime but haven't seen which one they were referring to

 

Oh yes, that is a one tasty truck   just look at these areas. Plus the possibility of the opening doors...

Nice. And he may turn out to be much cheaper than TW if he comes without a bunch of additional BULL$HIT   I'll be keeping my eye on this even if I end up with Freedom Leader.

This. At first we thought that the dangling feet was a necessary sacrifice for the accurate robot but now it's beginning to look like TW just gave up on the engineering because "who cares, it's not like we have any competition lmao". This TL-01 is the next step.

I was constently aware that FL's legs had a bunch of wasted space, and that the feet could have been hidden. I guess people really didn't understand the reasons for the feet, and ao just accepted ir or moved on, even though it's just lazy design. I'm glad this figure has both a better bot mode, and my favorite truck mode ever.

 

YOU CAN'T RUN FROM MIDGET PRIME !

 

I hope they made their own trailer or make and adaptor for M-44 which is the only G1 Prime that I own.

TW Triple-changers are quite good, well, Shatter at least, but I am sure the design could be improved, just as this company has show us with their Prime.

 

I wouldn’t stop laughing for a solid day if this ends up close to the same price as freedom leader and it only comes with the gun.

 

Oh yes----alt-mode blows away all the others, for only a very slightly worse bot-mode. This is the one I'll buy*

*assuming it comes in screen-accurate shiny polished paint, as seen on the Golden Gate Bridge. And not scrapes-n-rust.
