Thread for images that cause all respectable collectors to stop and wince Broken parts, badly chipped paint, faded plastic etc are good, but also images with 'glass-too-close-to-the-edge-of-the-table' vibes also fit here (For instance, a toy with chrome under the feet, standing on a rough surface) Note: Please don't damage things just for this thread- It should be natural/accidental occurrences, or things you found in the wild
Great idea for a thread. I had Generations Springer break on me twice in two different places over the course of several years.
*generations metroplex in a sunny window* saved one like that for $5 now i need to remove the yellowing and sell him cos I don’t have space
I'd like to post a picture of him, but I'm kind of scared to take him out and do so. Maketoys Axle (Grooves) I knew had faulty plastic on the handlebars. One handlebar didn't even make it out of the package, the other one crumbled when I brushed it. No biggie, I've got the replacement handlebars that came with one of the later figures. Except the die cast piece that runs down the middle of him, holding him together also broke. I carefully glued him back together, knowing he was going to live mostly in combined mode. Again, in my attempts to transform him into combined mode he broke a SECOND TIME, again on the die cast piece. Currently he's held together by superglue and the rest of Defensor's leg. He was a first edition, so I'm hoping the new Axle that's supposed to be coming out has had that improved. First Transformer I've ever broken, barring minor things like stress stress marks, in 15 years collecting.
Is it the yellowing? Im confused otherwise. Somewhere in a tote i have an energon megatron that was in a box in my garage that got chewed on my squirrels or mice. They also got to a couple E-terrorcons that i was a little less upset about.
dont have pic but my AOE drift, the more detailed looking one from the autobots united 5 pack, fell off the shelf. i managed to only get him rather than the whole pack, really liked the look of him too top half of his head crest broke off, connector for shoulder armor/door snapped and connector for his back kibble snapped off too.
I'm curious, do you happen to have a house cleaner or was your house recently sanitized by someone living with you? It looks kinda like the type of damage some people have experienced from COVID-sanitizing.
Nope, most I do for toy cleaning is dusting them with the little cloth you use on your phone screen and spraying/wiping my shelves with Pledge once they're empty. I have seen some of the posts about toys falling apart from disinfectants though.
I was kinda hoping that was the case just so the same thing won't happen to my figure, I want my T30 Springer to last forever...he's one of my favorite figures. I might try getting the Takara version or the Platinum Autobot Heroes version as a back up.
This happened back in 2007 when my then 7 year old nephew climbed my dresser by pulling out the drawers to use as steps to get to a Gameboy Advance that was on top, because at the time we didn't secure the dresser to the wall, the whole thing came tumbling down when it got forward heavy, along with the Matrix of Leadership I was displaying on it as well. My nephew was ok, he avoided getting crushed but he succeeded where Galvatron failed and destroyed the Matrix . I did manage to glue it back together. I always thought this was pretty nightmarish!
Friend of mine posted this in a discord server, Stratospheres other leg also had a massive crack at the same joint. F
Jesus, a cabinet in front of a window? Yikes. On the bright side, you can reenact the scene in "Optimal Situation" in season 3 of Beast Wars.
