They're "Retro" and "Vintage", which is supposed to play on nostalgia or something? Looking back on the Action Masters line not as the-best-they-could-do-with-current-toy-technology-and-we-should-have-moved-on-and-progressed-in-the-last-30-something-years but as something that still has value. The same way that my wife loves "vintage" (i.e. old, worn, ratty, faded) sweaters, I guess.
Someone will buy these. And the fact that there are multiple waves already tells us that someone is already buying these. CERTAINLY not us, haha.
I do have to say, though, that these are lightyears ahead of any of that "retro" kaiju stuff.
i'm tired of people calling these action masters 2.0, action masters had vehicles/playsets/companions knees and action gimmicks, if you like/want these? awesome, me too, but they aren't action masters
They're pretty fun little retro figures. The price is steep though and that is the only downside to me. The wide range of them is fun, robocop terminator BTTF Alien etc...
love these things they look so muck like my pixel art transformers that I made so many years ago
I know they're not comparable, but I look at that $18 3-3/4 Jetfire, and I'm like, I got all 16" of Siege Jetfire for less then 3X that on sale at Christmas, AND he looks more like the cartoon model.
I think I could understand these if they were under $10, and if they were toon-style but with sharp sculpts and good proportions
but at almost 2X that... I dunno, they should be good?
I get it's a nostalgia market, but just like 5 POA Star Wars vintage figures, are that many nostalgic for overpriced really crappy figures?
I'm not sure why some of you believe that these particular retro S7 figures exist as if they're not part of a larger line with a unified aesthetic. Over-priced? Sure. 100% cartoon accuracy? Absolutely.
I wanna see their Prowl though.
I kind of want them for the whole action master vibe. maybe an enterprising third party could make their partners...
I like these for the novelty and looks of them. Have wave 1, will be getting wave 2 also. The packaging art is pretty good too. I'll be keeping mine MOC, so the 5 POA doesn't bother me.
I can see why these aren't for everybody. Overpriced, yeah. Just a niche collectable.
These will never take the place of my G1 Action Masters.
There’s a white and red version. That said, I almost bought this a while back. Now I want it and the Jetfire/Skyfire figure.
I just got this from the wholesaler
Not bad, for about a tenner.
They ARE as cheap to buy as they look, right? I mean, I can buy all kinds of cheap, soft, vinyl figures off of the pegs in Japanese toy departments any day I like, so these MUST be as cheap, right?
The pvcs were only a few bucks ea. They putting gold in these or something?
Smells like greedy ego bs.
It's like Action Masters accept different.
I understand as I'd argue that Masterpiece line has turned intentionally shitty as of late but people still froth over it.
I am certain this was a typo but it brings up a good point to counter some of the whys and other negative comments. Just accept them for what they are and be glad that the entire franchise isn't of the same aesthetic and no one is forcing you to buy them.
... Or that, in mid-stride, the line you enjoyed didn't go full toonthusiast and decide to compromise quality for unnecessarily complex transformations and excessive pricing.
Sick promo pick. Is Skyfire normal size or oversized like the Devastator?
I don't mind the aesthetic, but the price just is deal killer for me.
Probably normal size because he's priced the same as all the others, while oversized Devy has an oversized price.
