Or, you could just take the batteries out. It isn't hard to remove them.

Fortress Maximus looks to be one of my most anticipated releases this year. I love that it retains the feature of Spike/Emissary becoming Cerebros' head and Cerebros being Fort Max's head. I'll use him as a so called "Autobot base of operations" in my collection.

I'm kind of stunned at not just the retooling but reuse of Metroplex parts in different locations on Max. His arm ramps, for example. I mean...why? Doesn't that just cost the same amount as a new piece?

He looks good in robot mode, and his cruiser mode is on point, I just hate that his base mode is literally "spread your legs". It's a real shame they couldn't figure out a way to be more accurate to his g1 city mode, as it was one of the best designed ones out there imo. As others have mentioned, it looks like he retains some of Metroplex's transformation, so maybe there are some good unofficial modes that can come from opening his lower legs up? I don't know.

I'll probably get it, but will likely wait for the Takara version.

Please tell me there are spots to allow Blaster in base mode to connect to Fort Max... that would be awesome.

Also, what are they gonna do with his legs? I don't see any pictures with his legs opened. They are the same legs as Metroplex why are they not in use here?

You should be able to use the thigh swivel and the knee to make the legs stand up in a approximation of the G1 city mode.

Looks amazing, but I'll wait to see what kind of paint job Takara comes up with. This one looks a little too bright and garish for my tastes. I was hoping for colors a little more undersaturated, to accentuate the scale. But I do love all the silver trim they added here and there.

    Excellent job overall.

Probably the "towers" would have a terrible slant. I hope I'm wrong.

I know it's been used to death, but I really have to:

I don't think there's anything in that group shot I don't want! (Well, there are a couple of exceptions.)

    I cannot tell a lie,
    Wheelie is an insta-buy!

And that Blurr. Oh my! I had him as a kid and I miss him so much, but now I can finally get him back! Just fantastic!

One complaint though, I really dislike Scourge's head. It's way too blocky. I know, I know, "Headmaster Gimmick", but still. :(

I'll only skip Galvatron if we get an MP version as I don't need two. I hope we do get an MP of him this year, 'cause if not this year for the anniversary, I'm not sure it'll ever happen.

Need pics of Mindwipe! Still have my original, but will defo buy a new one 'cause he's just so cool.

As the chances of Fort Max arriving in the UK are equal to the Sun suddenly extinguishing, I'll hold judgement until I see Takara's version as that'll be the one I get.

Overall, I reckon I'll be a lot more invested in Titans Returns than I have been in Combiner Wars. Unless Takara do it better... again!

True dat. But it wasn't my point. If they sold the gimmicky stuff at the same price as the non-gimmicky stuff......but we all know they can't and won't do that. A) its been their M.O. for a decade now, and B) bells and whistles naturally increase the cost. I just wish they could do without the bells and whistles, especially since I could only assume that a figure like Fort Max falls into their "30 percenter" category.

Wondering the same thing. If yes, this will likely turn into a insta-buy.

Yeah, keep banging that head of yours without realizing batteries can be removed :rolleyes2

Does something that massive really need hand-held guns?

I didn't mean it in a HasTak is cheapning out type thing. I meant does a being that massive, that can practically wipe things out bare-handed and has built in guns on his frame, actually need a hand held gun to accomplish anything?

    ... No, not really.

If HasTak does supply one, it will be a boon. But it's still not a necessity. Either way people won't be losing out.

I wonder if the Tomy one will have a Headmasters accurate head for Fortress?

It probably won't have any batteries in it. Metroplex didn't.

It looks like the leg panels have been moved to the back of the arms. Holy shit. That's unprecedented creativity with retooling.
