Commission piece done in metallic purple and silver mist. Man, I love painting this figure! Oh, and I also put industrial strength reflective tape on the inside of the barrel. In the dark, the brightness is almost flashlight-like. Also did the little vulcan laser.
Can't wait to get him in my possession Think I'll put the faction logo on his chest when I get him, to complete the toy look. If there's anyone out there looking for an artist for commission work, I can definitely recommend Yaujta. He works with automotive paints so the finish is very tough. Great communication too.
Aww, shucks, ma'am. The paints used are quite durable, with only a very minimum number of rub points due to joints. Admittedly, I dropped a leg on the hardwood floor during assembly and cursed thinking I'd need to fix it. Not a scratch!
Just lovely. I really wish Takara had put the effort in to making their MP something more like this. An actual paintjob really makes this mold shine. Very nice work.
Thanks for all the great comments everyone! I want to go on record saying I do love the original color and am very happy with how it looks. The purple Takara used never bothered me in the least. That said, when I put the commissioned piece next to my MP's, my resolve almost broke. He does look amazing in darks.
Oh man, that is beautiful. I'm pretty happy with MP29 as he is, but if Takara released a toy-colours version with a paint job similar to this, I'd jump on it in seconds
Wow Yaujita! MP Shockwave looks soo much better! Why hasn't Takara done this already!? Just out of curiosity, what does something like that cost to have done, about a C-note? I don't own a Lavender-Wave, but he's pricy at over $150.00+ for a small-ish Leader-sized figure. Well done Yaujita, though your work is worth every penny, I'll content myself with the free images here of your beautiful paint-job!
