Finally got a reply from the hasbro/transformers official Facebook page.
Haha Nice! Guess this makes it official! BTW I saw a custom on Facebook using the deluxes, it looked pretty good. I'm tempted to order another KO Leadfoot to make one since the one I got has a cracked finger.
I'll go off the film rather than a bored intern.
Figured you would. That's fine, but now we know what Hasbro considers the character to be. So if by some chance they do decide to make a new figure it will be called Topspin and not Volleybot
Guess only time will tell on getting a new figure. There is always a chance. Maybe takara will step up and do one. Nice fix BTW haha. I guess you consider Wheelie wheels now and Demolisher Wheelbot, since you know that's what they were credited as.
Nah, they had official product names.
Seriously though the Hasbro facebook page is hardly a source for anything other than maybe product news. Anything they say is likely just because that's what they think you want to hear rather than from any internal insider knowledge.
Why not both?
First, how did you get that HD screenshot of him?
Second, despite our disagreeing on who this is I do appreciate your work into trying to prove yourself right, because if you do get an answer you will by default give me one.
I don't think we can trust the source, but it hardly hurts your case!
It was in a T.V spot. I found it online after I saw it. It may be some intern, who knows absolutely nothing, but I have heard from other unofficial sources who I know have good ties to Hasbro that has told me that Hasbro does consider the character as topspin
Well considering hasbro said it was brawl and not devastator in movie 1... That means a lot, if it's true.
That's how I see it as well. The movies credited Demolisher as Wheelbot, Brawl as Devastator and in TLK the credited Wheelie as Wheels. But when the toys of these Characters arrived there names were changed. I really don't think we will ever get an official figure from Hasbro but after seeing this I do think if we did He would be called Topspin.
Btw do you have the link to that tv spot by chance?
I'd say the only definite way to prove this once and for all would be to find out from the film crew and if they intended it. As for who'd know depends upon how much thought was put into it, could be the writers, could be the animators, we really don't know.
We finally agree on something lol. Sucks that we will probably never get any kind of answer from them
I'll try and find it again
The fact that something like this needs to be argued about is really lame.
... I wonder if people who say "he's Brawl and not Devastator" also call the blue one Rumble?
Why not just say Topspin took on Leadfoot's head out of respect for his fallen wrecker friend? (leader, even, leadfoot gave all the orders)
Alien customs, it's probably not so weird changing your appearance to match a dead guy you respected.
holy crow, don't even start that here
Separate names with a comma.
