No matter which version of the Autobot Sub-Commander you're talking about he is almost always associated with law enforcement. Sometimes a master Cyber-Ninja. And usually is depicted as one of Optimus Prime's top lieutenants. Though in at least one known variations he is not so well liked amongst other Cybertronians. So, with that said I wondering which are your "Top Five" incarnations of Autobot Prowl in media? THIS IS NOT ABOUT FIGURES!!!!!

2-5. There may be some cool Prowls out there, in this vast multiverse of nigh-infinite possibilities... But they're not ninjas. And if they are... They're not Animated Prowl.

I only liked RID Prowl. All the others were either boring or nonentities.

    1. IDW G1 Prowl. The idea of an Autobot who is willing to make morally ambiguous decisions for "the greater good" is just really fascinating to me. Everything about him, his backstory, his realization that he couldn't escape the war and his acceptance of it, and the ultimate rejection of morality, and the aliennation of Autobots like Bumblebee and Chromedome who he considered his friends in favor of full-blown pragmatism is just such a chilling thing for an Autobot to do. However, the fact that he does seem to regret the fact that he has to aliennate people he considered his friends in favor of achieving his own agenda does make him a bit sympathetic and pitiable, in a way. IDW G1 Prowl is just the embodiment of moral ambiguity in Transformers, and I am grateful for such an interesting character.

    2. Animated Prowl. When I first got into Transformers with Transformers Animated, Prowl was actually my least favorite character. I don't know why, something about him just rubbed off on me the wrong way. As I got further into Transformers, and discovered more about the histories of the characters, I came to feel like Animated Prowl acted more like Hound. I did grow to like him more as the series went on, but I still felt he wasn't quite what Prowl was "supposed" to be. Going back and revisiting Transformers Animated, though, I find Animated's portrayal of Prowl to be a better character than I'd given him credit for. The Cyber-ninja thing was new and different, and while it's not my favorite idea out there, I feel they handled it in an interesting way. His love of nature and tranquility was fun when contrasted with the more bombastic Bumblebee's love of culture and technology, while also helping him connect with gentle giant Bulkhead. He's no IDW Prowl, and while he's not the kind of character I think of when I think of Prowl, he was still a cool, interesting character.

    3. Uh... Sunbow G1 Prowl? Ehhhh... RID Pro-no, no... Um.... Okay. I'm gonna go with Marvel G1 Prowl. I've seen a handful of the Marvel G1 comics, and I'd love to read more someday. Sadly, I've only seen a little bit of Prowl. While he's not the morally ambiguous IDW Prowl, he's still cool as a competent, serious, very logical-minded second-in-command for Optimus Prime, and as the Autobots' answer to Shockwave, I guess that's interesting enough.

    4. RID2001 Prowl, I guess... I haven't seen the first Robots in Disguise cartoon, so I don't know what Prowl was like. I think I heard he was like a serious, by-the-book Autobot cop, so I guess that must have been interesting for anyone who saw that series...

    5. Sunbow G1 Prowl. He... uh... He had that one episode, with Bluestreak, and I guess his voice was kinda cool... He, uh, blasted some Seekers, I guess... and his death scene was pretty horrific...

    Table. Flipping. Prowl.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Sunbow G1 Prowl was kind of a non-entity. I can't remember anything notable about the guy. Ninja-Animated Prowl is cool and a neat revamp but I see him as a completely different character.

Animated is number one. IDW is number two, just because it's hard to say he's my favourite when there's a lot of him that's fairly shite-ily written. The different writer voices clashign can make the character feel inconsistent, especially when his comedically smug persona is played up to farcical levels. Prowl's arrogance is funny because it's so natural and not especially meant to be insulting, wheras you can sometimes get writers who either turn him into just a plain old nasty guy or robot Tony Stark. If it was just Roche Prowl, he'd be number one for sure.

The rest are pretty damn forgettable. G1 cartoon Prowl? Did he even do anything besides need Chip's help to move that one time and then... die? BW Prowl? Which one? Energon Prowl was evne more boring than G1 Prowl.

So yeah, more like a top two.

    1. Prowl
    2. Prowl
    3. Prowl
    4. Prowl
    5. Prowl

While it's fun that Prowl has a different alt-mode than Prowl, I like Prowl more than Prowl. Prowl is also interesting, but written incosistently. And Prowl just has the coolest alt-mode, I like that one before the alt-mode of Prowl, Prowl, Prowl and even Prowl. So the best Prowl is Prowl.

I guess Animated, because... Animated. It's a totally different character, though.

As for all the regular police car Prowls, I have to be honest and say that none of them have interested me, ever.
