1-Armorhide : both modes are awesome. Pocket power! 2-Swerve : the colors work SO well on that one... It looks fast! 3-Overhaul : looks VERY cool in bot mode despite the limited poseability of the arms. Best headsculpt of all basics.
in no order: armorhide: great alt mode and well articulated bot mode ransack: as above overhaul: handicapped arm articulation compensated by compelling character design - snikt!
Of what's been released? Undermine- yeah, the head takes a bit of getting used to, but he's damn fun to fiddle with and has good poseability. Repugnus looks even better though. Wreckloose- Has a nice TMII vibe going for it, asymmetrical and all. And a horned komodo dragon is just a fun alt mode. Nice and poseable too. Brushguard- Bad arms, but a great sculpt and a better colour set than Overhauls. Plus a more interesting character. Who can't love an evil botanist? And despite the widespread hate, Backstop is awesome once you do the leg mod.
1. Armorhide: Good poseablity, stable in a lot of poses, and a great alt mode. He's right in scale in RM G1 Prime, too. 2. Scattorshot: Little guy is packed full of detail and personality. Having more firepower than most of the Decepticons combined doesn't hurt, either. 3. Swerve: Great paint job on a cool mold. I'm not even a big fan of red, but he's a great shade. The silver Autobot insignia on the red is pure love. Honorable mention. Overhaul: Nice alt mode, and a cool looking bot mode. Arm articulation hampers him, but his arms can still be posed, if you twist things around right.
CYB: Armorhide Hardtop Swerve (although I don't have him due to the REPAINT RULE...) GF Gasket Dino Shout Roadstorm Yes, the motorcycles rule...
Armorhide, Undermine, and Breakdown. Rumble would be on top but he's not out in the US yet, and this did say Cybertron. What leg mod?
Swerve - This is a good mold, but the colour scheme and paint applications on Clocker were atrocious. Swerve is a dramatic improvement. Brakedown - Has a good aesthetic and solid in both modes. My only major gripe is that the Key gimmick can't be used in vehicle mode without taking pieces off and putting them back on. Scrapmetal - I know it's not out yet, but the GF Rambles are the best Basic mold in the GF line and I'd expect Scrapmetal to be the best in the Cybertron line.
Swerve - awesome paint app Brushguard - takes the great Overhaul mold and throws better paint on it Armorhide - needs to be called "Pipes" and repainted orange for "Huffer" The February basics (Scrapmetal and Lugnutz) look terrific and will be in my top 3 when I get them.
This one's tough, since I've loved every Scout I've owned (the sole exception being Clocker for his wonky pipes/hole, otherwise he was cool), and I look at them being the pinnacle of small TFs. So, in no particular order, here are my top choices. Undermine - Pure awesomeness, and a dino to boot. No articulation is lacking aside from the head and waist, his real weapon isn't bulked up or hampered by a Planet Key gimmick, his "sail" looks like cool tribal ornamental wear instead of just kibble, and did I mention he's a fricking dinosaur? Except for no cool sword, easily trumps Cruellock. Wreckloose - Hasbro exclusive molds are the shiznit this year. With some chrome stuck on him randomly, Wreckloose could have been a Transmetal 2 easily, which is a good thing in my book. The shield weapon is not an ideal gimmick and makes him harder to pose, but looks cool mounted on his back. Speaking of which, this guy is brimming with articulation! I can't add enough plus signs to the A I'd give him to properly match how I feel about this guy. Scattorshot - The other Scouts I have are indeed cool, but neither Ransack nor Hardtop are sufficient to beat this little guy. Armed to the teeth and even a gimmickless hand weapon, he's ready to rock against my superior Cybertron 'Con forces, and I hardly miss the lack of knees. Sadly, or maybe not, I'm betting he will end up outranked by a future purchase sooner or later. Since I don't want to cheat by gushing on figures I don't actually own, I couldn't fairly add guys like Armorhide, Breakdown, Brushguard, Repugnus, or Scrapmetal yet. Close fourths etc. are definitely the Hardtop/Swindle mold and Ransack, kept back by certain problems those molds have.
Undermine: He's articulated just enough, with a crazy color scheme and look that just screams "AWESOME... I LIKE BURRITOS!!!" I did not know that about Undermine. Scattorshot: He could obviously use more articulation on his legs, but all that firepower, the colors, and his rockin' head make him a true badass!!! And he likes brisket. Backstop: I've always liked the "sage" character in whatever story, so I must admit that the 'toon weighs heavily on this decision. But I think I also like him because he looks so odd... and his head has A LOT of character to it. When I asked him what he liked to eat, he said, "Dude, look at me. I'll eat anything." At which point, I calmly backed away. Two of those are beasts, which is odd for me, because... well... let me show you: Munky not Trukk ————————————————— Trukk not Munky As you can see, I lean more towards "Trukk not Munky". Have fun, gang!!!
