I'll go with my favorites, in no particular order:

    1. MP 10 Soundwave (Hasbro version, despite the yellow visor and other minor changes from the Takara version, because of all the goodies he comes with)

    2. MP 08 Grimlock (Mainly because he's my favorite character, and this is his best iteration so far...wagering that the FT take on him will be even better)

    3. Generations Voyager Springer (awesome design for all three modes, excellent articulation, and great weapons)

    4. Prime Deluxe Wheeljack (Love the alt mode, and the bot mode is great as well; on a mission to own every release of this mold. So far I've got Wheeljack, Dark Energon Wheeljack, Wildrider, and Dead End...want Chromedome badly but $100 has me hesitating)

    5. Prime FE Optimus Prime (Just an all around awesome bot mode that perfectly captures his cartoon presence, and a stunning vehicle mode).

    6. Generations Deluxe Blurr (excellent design and great weapons - love how they store, too)

    7. Generations Deluxe Drift (same as #6, as they share the same mold)

    8. MP Datsuns (take your pick...excellent mold)

    9. MP Lambos (same as #8; take your pick)

    10. Can't decide...trying to go with figures I own myself.

    6.AOE Voyager Grimlock
7.AOE Deluxe Strafe (or as I call him by his original name,Swoop)

    1) i always advise to stay away from all optimus primes, but if you must have one, go with rotf leader prime. Don't numb your collection with one of figures from the bland sea of g1-based primes.

    2) animated blazing lockdown- embarrasses today's dinky deluxes and some voyagers, and looks amazing.

    3) rotf lockdown- most transformers are badass in terms of a kids cartoon, not actually badass. This is actually badass- he would never be allowed into a kids cartoon. He's loosey goosey in a few joints, but that can be fixed.

    4) g1 megatron- horrible in robot mode, the joints cannot put up with the weight of the metal it's made of, it's expensive, but- it nearly looks like a real gun and would never make it to market today- and as such an important part of toy history that will likely never be repeated.

    5) cybertron primus- gets overlooked in the race to be the biggest, but is by the most solid and well-put-together planet former. Also, possibly the most well-armed singular figure i've ever seen. Other large ones usually lack in one way or another, this one does not.

    6) alternator #1 - look through the alternators and pick your favorite vehicle that is not a jeep or a truck. A very unique line. They're big(bigger than today's voyagers), decently hefty, complex, and well-made. They're different, but there are days when nothing but an alternator will hit the spot.

    7) alternator # 2 - get a second one, preferably one that is not a repaint of the first. Again, no trucks or jeeps.

    8) hasbro tru exclusive masterpiece soundwave set- i'm not a big fan of mp's as they're essentially throwbacks- but if you're going to get one for sure do this one first. It's a complete set in that it comes with several cassettes and multiple accessories, which makes it sort of like several figures and is therefore a very good vslue.

    9) a good combiner. You can get a good one and not go hog wild. Energon superiond, rid rail racer, and rid build king are good examples that are not overly pricey. For upper echelon stuff a g1 predaking or maketoys giant. Point being get a combiner, and it must follow one rule: the individual figures must all have their own robot and alt modes. One central figure with non-transforming satellite figures doesn't count.

    10) either g1 or reissue fortress maximus. Despite recent efforts this is still widely recognized as the top of the mountian. If expensive isn't your thing then i'd go a really good voyager, and there several to choose from. Rts lugnut, banzaitron, am prime silas breakdown, and generations sandstorm are all good choices.
