I never had been to a Big Lots before, and when I saw one I was kind of curious. They had a few good deals on TF, and they also had a KO G1 Defensor from a line called Quick Change. I picked one up out of curiosity because it was only 8 dollars and I didn't notice it originally, but the ambulance has emergency mis-spelled. It has it spelled as emergegy. Similar quality throughout the rest of the rest of the product. I don't think it lasted 5 minutes before it fell apart.
Yeah I have that same set and also the Superion set. I got them from Walgreens ages ago for like 5 or 6 bucks. They are junk, they both fell apart on me. I think I trashed them.
About 4 years ago I had one of the Chinese Devastator KOs. The one that comes in this box: Oh man, was the quality on that thing ever shitty. Good job I only paid £5 for it on eBay when I was bored one day. I ended up throwing it away as it just broke again and again whenever I tried to move any of the pieces.
Just one question about that box and the art on it..I understand the terms 'building' and 'disguise' for the Constructicons.. ..but why the hell is 'Ravage feeding' part of their job?!
I have the KO defensor and devastator from Big Lots. As display pieces they are not too bad. I just don't touch them.
Cos megatron hates his troops to have down time, so when he doesn't need a super weapon of the week built or devi to smash something the Constructicons feed all the con's pets, its just a little glimps at what life is like on the sea bed in the nemisis when megatron is watching his soaps instead of plotting universal domination. Reflector actually makes some damn fine pottery. Decpticons, its not all about the killing you know.
Yeah these sets come out at dollar stores around here every year around x-mas. They are cheap kos, so they do fall apart quite easily, but I like em. I usually buy one Defensor, one superion and one Devestator every time they come out. Usually something breaks within a year, but I like to have them for display, so its nice to have such cheap alternatives, As I don't ever plan on hunting down the G1 originals. In my experience, the devastator is the weakest one. Most of the constructicons have their arms fall off and any kind of repeat transformation will snap the leg connector peice. I have broke two different silverbolt's legs off. Defensor actually seems to be the most solid of the three. The only thing I have broke on him are the clips inside his feet used for combining. Yeah they are toys that break easily, but for their price they are great. As long as they hold together enough to get into combined mode, they make a nice display piece I wouldn't otherwise have. As I side note, There is a small retailer around here called pamida (kind of like a bigger walgreens) that carry two packs of KO constructicons in the correct colors, complete with KO decepticon symbols. Sadly, they don't have some of the pieces necessary to form devastator.
No, I'm saying it was complete shite. Does anyone out there have the weird Menasor with Computron parts or the Aerialbot set? I'd be interested to know how the shoddy QC translates to the larger figures like Silverbolt.
I don't think anyone has them at this point.... Because if you punch them so lightly, they break... I seriously was laughing when I broke it sooo easily... And I throw out the whole set.... Hehe.... x-D
Do not buy. Ever. I was in Hong Kong last year and figured "Why the hell not?" Big mistake, even at $7 each (or whatever the exchange rate at the time was) I felt ripped off. They cut corners in every area imaginable. I bought the Defensor, Superion, and Abominus-with-Lightspeed-and-Strafe-for-some-reason. Ended up just being huge wasted luggage space for me. When if I just spent a little more I could've gotten something a lot cooler like Henkei Wildrider or Hot Rod for about $80 apiece, or even a Classics Cliffjumper for like $13. <regret> Edit: here are a few pics for anyone interested. They're much, MUCH worse in person. Please learn from my mistake.
Someone gave me the Raiden one a few years back and it was horrible. Nothing fit together properly. I put it back in the packaging and tossed it into storage as a curiosity piece. Keep meaning to go back to it sometime and make a little hobby project of fixing it up. Sometimes making a KO 'work' can be quite fulfilling. But I wouldn't buy any of these sets myself after seeing exactly how bad they are. Unless perhaps it was cheaper than buying a replacement part for an official figure.
