Jerry was always the jerk. You can find many shorts starting with Tom minding his own business until Jerry starts making trouble. Plus Tom is the house cat and Jerry is the intruder so of course it's Tom's job to kick him out of his (and owners) property.
Tom started it 95% of the time. Tom was a jerk in many of them and many had jerry protecting another animal. With that said jerry did start it in some of the cartoons. Shorts like scaredy cat and dr jeckell and mr mouse jerry started it and the way out of character year of the mouse jerry was the bad guy. Most of the time tom was the jerk. Tom and jerry tales they made jerry more jerk like however. Tom and jerry kids jerry was the good guys every episode. Filmation they had a few with jerry a bad guy but it was tom most of the episodes and h-b they were best friends most of the time!

last big screen movie was fast and the furry a super mean spirited film with tom killing humans in a race and tons of racers getting killed! (one racers gets ate by a mermaid no less!) It was the third movie following blast of to mars released in theatres by movietoons in limited release.
So I watched the movie and honestly it's ok. What I liked about the movie, the animation was fantastic and you could tell who Tom and Jerry were just by their expressions. The slapstick was hilarious. Tom and Jerry were just fun in general. Even the human actors had fun exchanges. Also a cameo made me laugh. Spoiler: Secret cameo Droopy makes an appearance. What I didn't like. There were alot of scenes where Tom and Jerry just weren't there, they play major roles and are introduced very early on, but sometimes they feel like afterthoughts. Characters show up and go away really quickly, the plot was bland, and Tom and Jerry near the end just become friends very quickly. If you got HBO Max, I think you should watch it if you love Tom and Jerry, but don't expect a masterpiece or some deep compelling story. Also Jerry's actual name is Jerome?

(first time in theatres in over a year and a half!) They did a great job with safety. (rows skipped, only groups near each other, masks, etc.) The place was packed! I was shocked how many people were there Even at half full the tom and jerry showing was packed! As for tom and jerry, it was fun. Not roger rabbit good but still a fun family film. Some fun parts and the main human girl is really likeble. There were people laughing at our showing and kids getting excited at the big climax! So for me it's not bad. Not pixar level; but fun waste of a afternoon. It does show people will go back to the movies! At least here in our city! Spoiler He shows up twice. He is also at the start in a ad for the joker movie with droopy as the joker! Look behind tom near the start on a building!
I've been having fun seeing some adult animation fans tearing this movie apart in social media, while also bemoaning that it's making money.
Why the hell do you name a movie 'Tom & Jerry' and it's...not actually about Tom and Jerry? What did the movie executives actually think it was? This kind of tone-deafness to what the media properties actually are is why hollywood is having so much trouble even trying to revive old franchises. Names alone aren't enough anymore.
I always found it stupid how the films title the movies after the characters audiences want to see, but their pushed to the sidelines. I never understood why companies can't let these characters lead their own movies. Sonic was doing the right thing by making him the main character.
Well actually the original movie was about a Diamond heist and the Panther was invented to make the opening credits interesting. Although the movie is entitled “The Pink Panther,” that term actually applies to a large pink diamond in the movie that has a flaw shaped like a panther in the middle The cartoon Panther did not exist before the movie, it was created for the credit sequences since director Blake Edwards thought a cartoon opening would help lighten the mood. The movie it's self was supposed to be all about David Niven's character stealing the Diamond. He was the main star of the movie, he got Top Billing on the poster. But for some reason the audience became obsessed with this minor humorous side character who he was supposed to be making look stupid and incompetent. They also liked the cartoon more than David and it got it's own spin off cartoon. Peter Sellers wasn't even originally cast in the part. He was a last minute replacement when the original choice dropped out and it was his first big movie.
