Huh. That looks a lot less shitty than the first few trailers.
Maybe I will see this.
Called... it? (he looks very new cartoon-inspired with the burn-y looking scars)
That was an awesome trailer! And oh shit, the real Shredder? Hell yeah
Hopefully it's for the same reason: his fight with Homato Yoshi (whether that's Splinter or not in this movie- I'm guessing not in this case).
I was pretty jaded about this movie for a while due to the crappy trailers. This one has renewed my excitement.
I mean just listen to that opening music. So much like the 1990 movie.
He looks very 2012ish. I dig it.
I am liking that a lot!
Saw the new trailer. First thing I noticed, is they seemed to have gone back and changed their faces up to look less uncanny valley'ish. They actually look more reptilian.
And holy shit, Shredder looks AMAZING.
The last trailer has peaked my interests. My sister threatened to drag me to it already sooo I might make her pay for the tickets.
New trailer makes the movie look a lot more fun.
Did I just watch the whole movie?
Meh, new trailer didn't do anything for me. Can't wait till it gets wiped out this summer by GOTG.
I'll probably get shit on for this, but I couldn't care less about GotG. It's coming from the Marvel and Disney power house, so it's going to perform well at the box office anyways. This on the other hand is a movie I want to show my support for. Meaning midnight premiere if possible, and maybe even a second viewing.
The more I see stuff for this movie the more I question Micheal Bay's involvement in it. First there is the fact that Megan Fox was cast despite being fired by Micheal Bay for Transformers Dark of the Moon. Then I see the turtles... OK So they're giant massive things. I've heard a lot of complaints about their faces, about all the extra clothing they're wearing. But at the end of the day they're still TURTLES. They actually look like Turtles. Their masks are the right colors... as far as I can tell... though Raph's looks a little weird. I'm use to it just being a normal shade of red and I don't know what that is but it doesn't look right. And they got their personalities right. In fact they've shown more personality in the last trailer that came out, just one trailer, than most of the Transformers did for three full films.
Micheal Bay is only the producer on this one which basically means his main job is balancing the movie's budget. There's usually more to it that that but in this case that seems to be literally the only thing he's doing. Which is actually a GOOD thing because I was totally expecting this to go the way of Transformers and the designs of the Turtles were going to be so bad that they didn't even look like turtles anymore, and probably only actually show up for the last 15 minutes of the movie. (Although that still might happen. The Transformers trailers featured them front and center too but then you hardly ever saw them in the actual movie because it was primarily focused on the human characters.)
I was ready to jump ship as soon as I saw Micheal Bay's name attached but I seem to have grabbed hold of the anchor and climbed back on.
Oh and... Why do people actually like the 2000 Turtles? Shredder was a freaking Utrom! How can you possibly like something that turns the most bad ass villain into this?
That is NOT the Shredder, that is Krang in a Shredder suit! His name is Oroku Saki not, Ch'rell.
There were rumors of Eric Sachs in the new movie but from the recent trailer it looks like he works for someone else. He says to someone standing in shadow "we've made improvements to YOUR Shredder armor" so I'm guessing the guy in the shadow was Oroku Saki.
Even the Next Mutation got that right. He looked like crap and they got rid of him in the pilot but at least they didn't make him a freaking Krang wannabe. That's just as bad as TheBatman when they suddenly decided to take Victor Freeze and give him Joker's origin story from the original live action film. He kills Bruce Wayne's parent's and then in an accident caused by a fight with Batman he get's turned into Mr. Freeze. No wife, no motivation, he's just a petty jewel thief stealing Joker's thunder. The 2000 Ninja Turtles shouldn't be compared to Batman the animated series, it was never that good. It should be compared to TheBatman which is a show I think people only watched because Adam West did the voice for the mayor.
Ch'Rell adopted the name of Oroku Saki. And Ch'Rell was an omnicide-happy maniac. Even if he was just an Utrom without an exosuit, the fucker wanted you dead. He is the Shredder. Even the servants of the original Shredder admitted they respected Ch'Rell a bit. Ch'Rell outright killed his servants or at least maimed them to the point they could be just brains in a jar if he still found them useful. And his goal is universal domination, and later the destruction of the entire multiverse, including himself. Ch'Rell is a Shredder. He is a badass villain. I certainly hope they take cues from Ch'Rell in this film, which they already seem to be doing with the main antagonist taking the Shredder mantle from the original source.
But of course, Saber! A change or a new take is absolute blasphemy. Let's never forget that!
Furthermore, he's way more competent than 80's cartoon Shredder and outlived Mirage Comics Shredder.
Ch'Rell is probably my favorite Shredder.
Because the 2003 Turtles is a show with awesome action, animation, well developed characters, and story progression. Until Fast Forward....
It took 3 trailers, but now I'm finally intrigued.
That much I can agree with... but he's still Krang. If you take away their armor, 80's Shredder is still a martial artist... he's incompetent yes but he's not any less incompetent without his armor. Utrom Shredder is nothing without his armor.
80's Shredder may of been incompetent but that series was also much lighter in tone. It was never meant to be taken seriously. The whole thing was a joke to begin with. The whole idea of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a pretty goofy concept. Plus what 80's cartoon villain wasn't incompetent?
In the 2000 series they were actually trying to make him seem menacing but it just comes off as a hilarious joke. There is no way to make THAT thing a serious threat without a mech suit. It's really hard to take the show seriously when they have this dark tone while their biggest threat is a little squishy blob thing. This a show that was trying to be darker and more mature and ended up being a joke anyway. It could have been a really good show if they didn't ruin the tone of the series by ruining the credibility of their main villain as a serious threat.
I actually would of accepted the change better if it were the other way around. If 80's Shredder were actually just Krang the whole time and the 2000 series made Shredder and Ch'rell two separate characters then the idea of Shredder being a little squishy blob thing actually would of fit with the tone of the show.
Ch'rell was awesome and I didn't even watch that Turtles show all that often.
Separate names with a comma.
