This was a fun piece for me. I originally drew the piece as part of the Inktober Challenge this year - appropriately for the prompt, "poisonous" - and here I got around to putting some color on him. Spittor is still one of my favorite Beast Wars toys. I've always liked how grotesque he looks, and the "hunchback" posture certainly throws some character on him. I've also found him kinda funny, too, being a frog. When you think of a "beast", usually you'd picture something like a dinosaur, a gorilla, a rhino, a big cat, etc. A frog? Wut. But hey, frogs are neat, especially ones with neon colors. Plus, I didn't just make this out of an appreciation for the character, he's really helped me grow a newfound fascination for Beast Wars (and to a degree, Beast Machines) because of the whole "bond between the beast and robot" idea that drove the whole concept; Spittor has that in spades. Hell, I've even grown a liking for the whole "mutation head" gimmick on the older toys. (Honestly, I really wanna see the level of creativity that went into the Beast era come back to Transformers.) And after re-reading his toy bio, I love the bit about the rumor of rubbing his back bringing good luck, but instead gives everyone dementia. That is both really funny and kinda neat, if a little morbid. Anywho, enjoy! Comments and critiques are most welcome. Oh, and for good measure, here's the original line art.
I've thought about it. I mean, you're not the only one to bring him up, and hey, I liked the series. If I find some time, I'd do a little palette swapping. ...Hey, look! It's some found time!
