Ya..i also figure it out @ wiki last month. With this budget i hope can see more Dinobots screen time, perhaps giant Decepticon or Combiner vs Dinobots! This is all we hope to see..and can have a longer thrilling actions scene in the highway robots chase.Hopefully we will have a 3 hours joyride with these new awesome writers.
On one hand kind of surprised. $260 million would mean that the production budget is higher than the domestic box office for Age of Extinction. So to keep from being a domestic dud they would really have to turn around those domestic numbers. Really seems like a great deal is going to be riding on those international numbers to justify that sort of budget. But then on the other hand Transformers is about all Paramount has right now as a mega hit. Star Trek isn't knocking it out of the box office ball park. Turtles isn't very box office strong. GI Joe was such a disappointment they keep finding reasons not to make a fourth film. Mission Impossible can't seem to really improve it's numbers. Even with the numbers from China the Terminator series stinks at the box office. But even if the international numbers don't drop a penny it's kind of bad news because not being a co-production in China means that Paramount gets less of a cut of the Chinese box office. Kind of feels like Paramount is spending more money to make less this time. Oh well should make it fun to mess around with the numbers next year.
Why are you citing the mother of all non reliable sources as fact? Unless the cited source on the page is reliable, this is merely rumor.
Even if the source isn't the worlds most reliable the number they are throwing around isn't unreasonable. Age of Extinction is estimated to have had a budget of $210 million. You would have to imagine that it would have cost more to film in England than it did in China. If they had said something crazy like $360 million then we could we could really start wondering about their numbers. I think we could at least take the $260 million with a grain of salt even if the numbers end up a few million less than this estimate. I just don't see them being able to do all they want to do with this next film for under $200 million.
Considering the known fact that the budgets for these movies have always hovered around the $200 million mark, I'd imagine it was simply sloppy journalism and a misquote citing it as 200 million Euros instead. Occam's Razor and all that.
