You know, I have to question the Tuesday night opening.

If it opened on Thursday night as per the norm, there would probably be more people seeing it because it's the weekend.

Opening on a Tuesday/Wednesday means there's more people who can't/won't go until the weekend. Well by the time we reach the weekend, word of mouth will be extremely bad.

Funny you should mention that since the Bee movie is a prequel as is the following animated movie.

I kinda want this movie to bomb so we can start talking about a reboot.

It's not surprising. They've now put out 3 sequels that are regarded as some of the worst movies of all-time.

If they want the stateside numbers to go up, then make a movie that everyone can enjoy. There was just no way TLK was gonna succeed domestically if it got ROTF/AOE reviews.

Exactly. If it was released on a Thursday, the reviews would have only been a day old by the weekend, and would not have really set in on the general audience.

However, now the GA has 3 whole days to hear critical opinion, which will only hurt this film.

The first viewing i won't count as it was a special early screening for only people that won tickets or were invited so maybe 100 people? But the second time I went also IMAX and there was honestly 30 people in the whole theater.

I hope it continues to under-perform. From what I've been hearing, TLK isn't worth my time so as sad as I am to say this about the series that got me into TF, it's time for it to end.

The domestic drop of AOE indicates there's fatigue with the movies. International numbers are great, of course.

We are still on opening day, a lot could happen. But 2016 to me was a clear message that you can't churn out crap and expect it to make big bucks because it's a franchise movie, and bad word of mouth WILL hurt the movie's reception. Independence Day. Ice Age. BVS. From this year, The Mummy and Pirates.

Things are changing. The era where a bad movie can still be financially successful is ending. If TLK disappoints financially, then the era is truly over because these films have been the biggest examples of bad films getting away with it.

I know people are calling for a reboot, and before this movie I would've agreed with them, but seeing as we've just had an entire movie that did nothing but set up Unicron I'd like it to at least finish that storyline before starting again.

It's time for the Jedi to end.

Maybe because they're bad movies? I love the films despite having plenty of beef with them but I recognize they're bad.

Agreed, let's just do one more film to wrap it up.

Maybe Paramount's weird attitude is starting to come back to bite them.

Some other studios, hey happy fans are a nice cheap way to spread buzz and word of mouth, maybe we should keep those old bastards happy. Paramount whatever fans don't matter, we don't care.

Warner Brothers doesn't get the critical reception they wanted for their DCEU movies, holy crap Batman we need to do something about that right now. Paramount whatever critics don't matter, we don't care.

Sony doesn't like the look of the Amazing Spider Man domestic numbers, their Spidey Sense said we really need to do whatever it takes to get those domestic numbers up even it means we have to cut a deal with Marvel/Disney. Paramount whatever domestic numbers don't matter, we don't care.

Enough films where the studio doesn't care if people actually enjoyed the movies they paid to see and it's somehow shocking that people decided they didn't care to spend money on that studio's movies.
