Has any 3rd party companies got around to down sizeing devastator to the size of the other combiners?
Whoever makes a downsized Devastator first will totally get my money. (Pending reviews) Bonus points for using the TT version. Extra bonus points for integrating some of the 3P upgrades.
Off-topic: If I would of made a typo like this on my thread I would never hear the end of it. Yes downsizing KO. They used to do that with the G1 vintage KO's so don't see why not.
I think the goal of such a hypothetical project would be making Devastator the same height as Superion, Menasor, etc. Also, improve on some points that Hasbro/TT did some cost cutting on, such as articulation, plastic quality, or other features (like Hook's crane or making Mixmaster's cab look more G1). The latter could be accomplished by aping various 3P upgrade kits. This isn't out of the realm of possibility, as evidenced by the CW Megatron KO. The individual bots may end up taller or shorter than the standard limbs, but the overall goal of such a project would be accomplished. Let us hope...
slightly taller would be okay with me too. like a head taller or so. but count me in with those wanting a downsized takara devastator to scale with the other combiners
Why not just use MT Giant if you want a deluxe sized Dev? Looks a lot nicer (to me) than the official version and their complete lack of articulation and their hollowness. Probably pretty cheap now also.
Yes. Its called Maketoys GreenGiant and was released in 2012. And still infinitely kicks the shit out of hasbro's lol.
1 Except the individual bots look like Prime versions of the characters, otherwise i'm very happy with Giant as my Devastator but i also like to uncombine and display the individual bots and transform them. So i would also like to buy an undersized KO UW Devastator cause the botmodes are among the more slavish G1 of the UW line and i want that for my chug Constructicons. Also preferably such a KO would not repeat the flaws of the official, so no hollownes and better articulation is implied in our desire for such a ko.
Then I'm afraid you're out of luck. Third parties have long since moved away from the deluxe scale combiners. Even MT isn't making one next year and we may never see another in such size ever again. And KO companies never downsize sets, only upsize them. So I don't see why one would bother doing so to hasbro's dev.
It is my most fervent hope that Maketoys is just taking a break. I would love a Superion and Bruticus in their style. Curse you Cross Dimension!
