This one was the surprise of the wave for me. I was all in for megatron..Boy..I ended up liking this one even more.

The bot mode is one of the better voyagers from this line so far. It just feels great, well planned. Has some cool features, like the shoulders and antenna that pop up almost like a super mode.
His gun is weak, and could have used a decent pack in prime cannon. The joints feels great, the plastic is good..Im very impressed with this one. LOVE the almost galaxy force look with many other styles borrowed as well..even though this mold is prolly octane..its still one hell of a Prime.
His sword is a real nice pack in too.









Truck mode is just all kinds of FUN. The transformation and the way things tuck in is just plain ol FUN. It makes a real nice truck mode, it rolls nice, and the foil stickers and silver paint look..well..Prime. I can see a scourge repaint down the road in addition to octane.









Jet mode is surprisingly sweet. The titan rides way in back, but where some have said the jet looks lame or wonky, I see an F-104 Starfighter, and the thought of Prime looking like THAT plane tickles the crap out of me. Once again, getting into this mode is fun and dishes out a solid alt mode.







I went into this one with REAL low expectations. I wanted Megatron and got this as a good deal with him. I think I can say I like this prime just as much, if not more than megatron...and I like that one ALOT. this one is just all fun. Its a great prime and has fun alt modes that look real nice..especially truck mode with lots of tanker detail. Will octane be better? I dunno..but this prime is still really good.

Thanks for these more personal reviews of Prime and Megs. I liked both of these from the moment of reveal, but I feel I needed to not overspend before 2017.
Everytime I see them in reviews like this i am tempted though.....

But yeah, I will force myself to wait for the Octane repaint from either Hasbro or Takara.

 

If Takara does Scourge out of this, i will keep the stacks up. Just to differenciate them.

 

I hope someone releases this mold as RID 1.0 Scourge. He's going to look good as Octane, but even better as Scourge. I'm glad the mold is solid too. I was worried about the jet mode but happy to hear this Prime is just well made all the way around.

 

The chest flap was left down in truck mode..lol..my bad.

 

you put such emphasis on your toys being able to roll and then leave the chest flap down in truck mode  

this mold looks really cool, i'm super excited to see octane

 

This guy surprised me by being a really solid figure not to mention a triple-changer. He is a really fun and cleverly designed figure with 3 modes that are all better than you'd expect. Can't wait to see some other versions of this such as Octane to see what if any changes they make.

 

How does he look from behind? I was wondering where his tank trailer goes?

REALLY hoping for a Scourge from this...I have plenty of primes but no good Nemesis yet. Especially since I watched RID last year I really want a good Nemesis.

I was reluctant to preorder both Prime and Megatron, thinking that I'd wait for the inevitable Octane version, but now I'm glad I preordered both thanks to this review.

 

Can the wings be deployed in robot mode?

 

Yes

I think this is going to be a kickass Octane.

 

Part of it is on the back, most of it is folded up into the legs. From the back he's actually surprisingly clean looking as the jet mode wings kind of fold around and cover all of the truck kibble. He kinda just looks like he's got a big grey backpack.

 

The way that he comes out of the box the wings are folded up around all the other back kibble but you can unfold them a bit and position them as wings (like how I imagine Octane will look). The wings are attached by a multi-jointed hinge system so you can pretty much position them however you want.

 

Wow, looks much better with the shoulders down. Bot looks much better now, truck mode is still garbage just like the RID version.
