Due to work I went to cover a company making something new. By sheer luck they work with another company and in the back that company was making a “giant robot dinosaur transformer costume”

I asked if it was a T-Rex and my point of contact said yes. I thought he was talking about Grimlock. He is not a Transformer fan but a huge Star Wars nerd.

The guy making this costume is also a big Star Wars nerd.

Anyway the costume was commissioned by Hasbro. Supposedly to be worn and unveiled at SDCC.

I only saw it when they just had one leg finished and the basic skeleton of the costume. The maker sent me this pic since I was unable to see its final form before going on a work trip.

The costume can transform into the city. Full Tilt is a remote controlled car. I assume so it can detach from the chest and drive around the ground.

The costume was made from the CAD drawing of the Titans Return Trypticon toy. They scaled up the sections like the legs and CNC milled forms to vacuum form the parts like the legs, arms and head.

If any of you are at SDCC please keep an eye out for this. I was told it will be entered into Masquerade as well.

That is what I was told. And the versionni saw had the flaps for the arms just like the toy. I’m sure it will be overly simplified. But the majority of the Trypticon transformation is rather simple.

This is what Haslab should have done with Unicron. Make it a costume so the collector becomes Unicron. The pieces could then be assembled into the planet form when not being worn.

The remote-controlled Full Tilt puts it over the top.

I think JCVD is the only cosplayer that could pull that transformation off without injury.
