Yup the part that gets glued slides of it's pressure tabs of sorts and gets wedged. Think your filling a coin wrapper and a coin gets wedged at a angle. If the tail makes a super loud noise and it dose not hold in the tail up position then take a look at: Minor/Repaint: - TR Trypticon tail fix guide. (Pic heavy)
Yep, like FORT MAXie said. But I responded to @transmasterc question and I answered to my best of my ability.
Judging from the numbers, it seems less like all recent variants have been fixed, and more like it's a total crapshoot. Well, that sucks.
Finally bulit my sons Christmas batch 71801 from amazon fire sale. Zero hip, tail,or door issues! Im very pleased!
View attachment 27904436 My Tryp numbered 71351 arrived from HTS's half priced eBay sale today. Hips and tail operate perfectly. The clear purple door has the slightest hint of not tabbing in correctly. What an amazing toy!
Hey all. Batch number 71431. Hip ratchets were ridiculously tight. Disassembled and cut 1/3 off the springs. Much better now. Not afraid of damage. Will examine in a month or so and maybe trim a bit more if I need to. Trypticon's chest door is a bit loose. It stays put, but top left corner looks like it's coming out of the housing. Was thinking of adding some very thin strips of sticky plastic to make it a bit more tight.
My son has just received Takara Legends Trypticon # G0317 for his 8th birthday. Are there any known issues with various Takara serial codes on this model? Thanks all
First off, thank you Maz for starting and managing this thread, and thanks to everyone who has offered advice on fixing Trypticon. You all have been a big help, and I really appreciate it. Now for my contribution to the batch data. Batch Number: 71461 Purchase location: Ollie's - Chest Hatch: It is a little warped with seemingly very small pegs and rarely stays closed. Simply tightening the chest screw has not fixed the problem. - Hips: The left hip is tight, but not unreasonably so, while the right hip was borderline. I played with it for a couple days, then opened the right one up and saw no damage or stress marks, but still compressed it just in case. - Tail: It's a tad tight and loud, but not unreasonably so in my mind for a large, hollow figure, and it holds in both positions, so I'd call it fine.
71461 My first Trypticon from when he first hit Toys R Us is 71461 & I had leg & tail issues. But 71461 is listed in the good category.
This is such a great thread. I was going to post recently, but it slipped my mind; anyway when they popped up at Ollies, my dad went and picked one up and then left it at my parents house as a surprise gift for when I came out to petsit for them while they were on vacation. Batch 71871, from Ollies, no issues. Also, if anyone is keeping track, I've got the Asymmetrical towers.
I have a Trypticon on the way to me with Batch #71731, one of the listed good ones, so I'm crossing my fingers I don't get a bad copy but either way this thread was very helpful. I will update when I get it in hand to confirm whether or not I have to do any surgery.
