Just an update since I finally got home today. I wasn't able to use the Titan Master gimmick before since I didn't have any with me. Got home and tried to stick Sentinel Prime's head in his mouth and... the gimmick doesn't really work too well. Even if it did work I think that's just dumb the way they want you to put a Titan Master in his mouth. The problem is those pegs aren't too secure and even if you can get it on there the upper mouth can't close over the Titan Master. The only way I was able to get him in there was to leave the upper part down which makes it even harder to keep him pegged in while closing the bottom jaw. It kinda helps the legs on Sentinel's Titan Master are a little loose. I don't think I would of gotten him in there at all if the leg joints weren't already loose.

Anyway, even if you get a Titan Master in there the way it's intended it just looks dumb. I prefer to stick him in there side ways. The Titan Master fits in his mouth much better that way and looks like a victim of a Sharkticon attack rather than for some reason being given a ride in his mouth. Who at Hasbro thought it would be a good idea to have a Titan Master standing up inside a Sharkticon's mouth rather than being a used as chew toy? I don't know about anyone else but I'm never using those intended pegs to hold a Titan Master in there.

Right now I have Sentinel's Titan Master side ways in his mouth with one arm reaching up like he's trying to punch Gnaw in the face trying to get free. He holds much more securely this way just being held in between his teeth. I even tossed him around a few times and the Titan Master is still lodged in there so he isn't coming out unless I want him to come out. I wouldn't recommend doing that if your Sharkticon has any loose joints in his jaw because if his mouth opens at all while being tossed around the Titan Master will fall out but as long as the joints are good you shouldn't have a problem.

I enjoy this guy. Bought three for troop building. Figured he's a good way for Fangry, Apeface, and Crashbash to make a hasty exit from battles gone wrong, and I can see the likes of Skullsmasher and Wolfwire laughing that their lower ranking partners have to travel by getting eaten, then vomited back up at base.

Plus they can really work a swarm with recent insecticons.

    Now we just need allicons.

At first I was thinking there was six of them but then I took another look at mine and realized there's no way for the upper torso to transform that way. So either there's seven of them or one was modded to remove the beast head from the robot legs. Though looking again I can see two sets of robot arms so there must be seven of these things.

    Gnaw is adorable.

He's such a dopey, tiny little thing and he looks nice next to my Galvatronus.

Anyone else feel like giving Gnaw modded/replacement legs?

So you can leave the entire back on?

The pudginess is there but the lack of, not just the shark/piranha teeth hood, backpack is pretty distracting.

I love his alt mode. But this is one of the few transformers I rarely transform it back and forth due to his disappointing bot mode.

Any other mods around where the entire leg and feet are permanently fixed? Just wondering to see if I can piggy back off of someone's work.

I grabbed one, cool little guy. I think the head is too big overall. It's like a Deluxe sized head, a wee bit smaller and it would look 10x better to my eye.

Much more happier now. He was already fun before but now he's more fun transforming back and forth.

The sculpted details are all present with the stock toy. Loving it just like all the other beautiful scout pieces. Good job hasbro!

I started army building these guys... so of course I had to get them a leader as well...

You know... As far as I'm concerned, he's a different character than Megatron completely... call him Sharkticon Supreme or some such. I can take him out of the Prime continuity and put him into CHUG as his own unique character... leader of the Sharkticons.

Prelude: Who’s the cutest little Sharkticon ever? Who’s got the cutest little teeth and the prettiest big bug eyes? It’s Gnaw, of course, the cutest little killing machine ever to be deployed in endless hordes by five-faced alien beings intent on conquering the universe. He is Gnaw from Titans Return. And seeing as new Gnaw figures have been teased for War for Cybertron: Siege and Cyberverse, let’s see what the Prime Wars version of the cutest little alien robot monster ever has to offer.

Beast Mode: Let’s start with what is really Gnaw’s primary mode, a robotic beast that actually looks very little like a shark. Sure, it has a big mouth with rows and rows of teeth and that cute little fin on top, but that’s pretty much it. The beast has arms and legs (something a shark definitely does not have) and its torso is basically all mouth. The big mouth can open and close, the tiny little arms can move at the shoulders, and the legs (actually the robot mode arms) have knee joints. The tail detaches to form Gnaw’s mace in robot mode.

Like all Titans Return Legends-class figures Gnaw, too, has a cockpit for a Titan Master figure... well, sort of. Actually a Titan Master can stand inside his mouth. If he wants, I mean. If he’s stupid enough to step into the mouth of a Sharkticon. He fits, though, so that’s something. I guess.

Anyway, in direct comparison to his G1 predecessor, TR Gnaw is basically identical, just smaller. So bottom line: a very cute Sharkticon beast mode. No complaints.

Robot Mode: While Gnaw does manage to be somewhat scary (though in a cute way) in beast mode, his robot mode abandons all pretense of scariness and is just adorable. Maybe not quite as much as G1 Gnaw with his chubby head, but still. Gnaw is just a tubby little thing in robot mode that really makes one want to go “awwww!” all the time. He is nicely articulated, though, quite unlike his G1 predecessor, and can pose with the best of them. He lacks the rifle from his G1 days, but that isn’t a big thing. He still has his mace.

So bottom line for the robot mode: adorable.

Remarks: By the time the third season of the original G1 cartoon rolled around, the Decepticons were basically relegated to second-class bad guys, while the true antagonists were the Quintessons, the creators of all Transformers. The Quintessons deployed endless hordes of Sharkticon drones as their henchmen and loved to drop people into Sharkticon pits after holding show trials for them. Only one Sharkticon ever made it into the G1 toy line, Gnaw, and 30 years later he returned alongside the Titans.

While the Quintessons and their respective drones and troops are still criminally underrepresented in the Transformers toy lines, it’s really nice to see Gnaw again. He’s scary in an 80s kids cartoon way and sold at a price point where you can easily army build him, if you wish. He’s also a pretty nice stand-alone figure, too. So unless you really don’t like the futuristic styling of the season 3 figures, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Gnaw. Recommended!
