Uh.... I honestly don't know where to start about this guy. :lol  I'm just gonna let you guys look at the pictures and I'll post a few things here and there about Kup. Enjoy. :)

    Kup comes with 2 guns:

They can combine to form a bigger weapon so a Titanmaster can sit in it:

They can also store on his back in robot mode:

His weapons can either store on the back of the truck or on the sides:

Flintlock can sit inside the truck or he can peg into place of the bed of the truck:

    Thoughts:

I really like this guy. He's pretty fun and his transformation is clever. Robot mode is spot on to how he looked in the cartoon (Well, excpet for the grey head but I honestly don't care about it) and I can also say the same for his truck mode. :thumb

This guy belongs in your collection. I don't care whether you get Hasbro's or Takara's, just get him. :thumb

Passing. I like the older Generations version a lot better.
This guy does look okay, but I think I'll wait for the (inevitable) repaint to experience the mold.

Yea, this figure looks amazing. I'm going to throw the older generations figure up on ebay.

    You'll definitely enjoy him. :)

I really like Triggerhappy's transformation, but I think Kup just beat him in that catagory. :thumb

    Fantastic dude !
I'll get the Legends, for sure, but I simply can't resist this one too. I just can't wait to fiddle.
You do him justice, sun beams make him look good.

Of this wave, kup's who I'm most interested in, but not sure I I'll actually bite. There's something about him that doesn't scream 'Kup' to me (and that nostalgia hit is part of what I'm after - I know others are less fussed). Party it's the colours, partly the head (seems 'long' and the face a little odd). I think I'll wait to see what the takara looks like, or crosshairs, if that's the remold (and they do a bit of remoulding).

This figure is superb. Some of these TR deluxes have really nailed it.

Kup is kind of a benchmark for Generations deluxes imo. Good vehicle mode, clever transformation resulting in a sleek kibble free robot mode with minimal hollowness.

For me, it's the chest and shoulders. They just look generic.
If we saw shots in black and white, would the figure even be easily identified as Kup?

With that face? Absolutely! And the overall look is fairly Kuppish to me. Far moreso than the previous update, and this looks like a much more fun, solid toy.

That's 8 redos in TR that are replacing the earlier CHUG figure - Scourge, Blurr, Brainstorm, Astrotrain, Galvatron, Laser Optimus Prime, Wheelie and now Kup. And the only reason Classics Rodimus isn't getting replaced is his Warbot Protector compatibility.

Dare I hope for a nice G1ish TR Springer?

He looks stellar. But yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about him. I definitely want the mold, but I don't think I need it as Kup. Depends on what redecoes we're getting.

The robot mode (and a lesser extent the alt-mode) are generic enough that I kind of just want it for that, so if this gets rereleased as someone I don't care about, I'd be happy.

Your lack of Perceptor is fascinating. Though I have to disagree about Laser Optimus. Other than having a trailer (which is admittedly big) I think the earlier one is the better figure. I respect your opinion, I just happen to hold the opposite.

I forgot about Percy. It's kind of awesome that TR has so much great stuff that I can't even keep track of it all!

As for LOP, I found the deluxe kind of excessively small and unstable in truck mode. It looked nice, but wasn't much fun. The TR figure looks the part, is a nice size, has multiple ways to configure the robot mode, a bonus plane mode (with multiple configurations), a Diaclone-homage driver. And he looks great confronting GDO Skeletank G2 Megatron!

So much fun! And if we get a G2-accurate deco, I'll gladly pick it up as well.

Neither of us is wrong in our opinion. We just have different priorities, that's all. ;)

Like others, I'lll stick with my Generations figure, but would definitely be interested in a retool/repaint. It could fit Ironhide, or maybe Trailbreaker/Hoist, although the trend seems to be for '86 to '89 figures, so maybe Crosshiairs is on the money - or even Landmine, Longtooth or Roadblock?

The more I see pics the more I like this guy. I was going to skip him, but it doesn't look to be a bad toy. If anything, what's wrong with having more than 1 Generations Kup?

First of all, awesome review. Thanks for the great pics!

I've gone from hating this toy, to a must-buy. It hit me when I realized parts of deco (including the gray head..) were a reference to the G1 toy. I've owned and loved that toy for 30 years. For $13-17 bucks, I'll take a Hasbro Kup..

Yet, I am eagerly waiting to see Takara's take. Now that I'm thinking of G1 Kup... he never really evoked the 86 movie version.. With Takara, they will obviously make the colors more anime-accurate, but maybe they'll even change the head! I think I'm gonna end up double-dipping on something I laughed at when it was first revealed.

But I wanna ask about one shot in particular.. Is this a mistake from the factory on painting the eyes, or a common issue? It looks like they painted one of his "bags" and one eye is silver one is only partially blue..?

Again, thanks for the great review!

    Thanks, I appreciate it. :)

As for the eyes, I'm pretty sure it's just a one time mistake on my figure by the factory.

Good review! I really like the alternate mode as it really screams of G1 Kup but the robot aesthetics unlike Hot Rod and Blur's doesn't remind me of his G1 self. I need to see the figure in person before deciding to buy it,

Looks pretty decent, though I'm happy with my Generations Kup.
