Gotcha, cool thanks! Like I said, it was kind of an afterthought that maybe that was the purpose of that tutorial.

It's an incredibly tight fit. Just pulling straight up does not work and will lead to breakage. It must be finessed out of the port, it's such a stupid design.

The plane can indeed connect to the tank. Open up the chest flaps and you'll see two small tabs protruding. Look at the tank, you'll see two small slots on the sides. The tabs fit into those slots. It's not the most secure connection, but it's there and it is designed that way, Hasbro just didn't put it in the instructions.

Honestly I've been considering getting him an alternate gun from shapeways once I'm able to pick up this figure. I've seen a couple that come closer to his G1 cannon but mostly I just want something else to give him more difference to Black Shadow.

I'd link one in particular that I'm looking at but I'm not cleared to post links just yet ha ha

EDIT: Disregard that, here is the link for anyone else curious Blaster for TR Leader Overlord by fakebusker83 on Shapeways

A peg and a hole is a stupid design?

Mine is fine. Pull the gun off all the time.

It is when the handle is covered in gloppy paint, there's no give and the tank halves further lock it in place, making the wiggle move nearly impossible. Fortunately, Overlord's tank can be pulled apart enough to give you enough room to wiggle the gun out, but my Sky Shadow has the same issue (even without the paint) and his connection points are stronger and tighter and his gun I nearly broke.

That or just shave the peg a lil' bit. Interlocking parts too covered in paint can be troublesome like that.

Well, sure, both options work well if you know there's a problem beforehand. The paint was so good on my Overlord's gun that I didn't know it was painted until it rubbed off in tank mode. Once the paint came off, the removal process went a bit easier. Now, I have it down to an art, but I'd imagine there are a lot of first-timers who will end up with a broken gun when it's all said and done.

Wait wait, that purple is all painted on? what the heck xD

Don't they usually just make it in molded plastic of the required color in situations like this?

if there's other molded purple parts and there's room in the mold than yeah, but at least one of those wasn't happening. from pictures his shoulder cones and purple fins look like they're painted too so they probably just didn't want to use a whole nother mold for only a few parts.

Hasbro and Takara seem to have developed a way to cheaply get paint all over an individual part of a toy recently. They've been using it on stuff like the Cyber Battalion toys, too.

Are they snug at all, or loose as a goose and just a placeholder of sorts? Because I have to say they look amazing with him. Ugh. So good.

They are snug enough to stay in place. The main caveat is that they stick out just far enough to keep the doors from closing all the way.

I keep forgetting! I'll snap a couple more today.

Leaders are as rare as they come around here, so I got the BBTS one. It's not like the price is far off of brick and mortar.

New pics with the engine blocks rotated. Last one shows how far the doors can close with Giga and Mega inserted.
