The only real use I have for that is that removing it makes it easier to open the cockpit and hatch.

indeed. "just the tip"   it certainly seems to serve no purpose other than if you open the lower hatch it kinda looks like an open mouth!

 

I got Black Shadow a while back and love the fact that you can clip the two alt modes together so the plane can ‘carry’ the tank. So gutted you can’t do that with Overlord.

 

You can, they just connect differently. Overlords chest-flaps open and tab into the tank turret.

 

I was hoping someone might know, thanks! Although having said that when I have tried tabbing it into the little holes in the tank turret it falls out really easily. Am I missing something?

 

Afraid not. It seems most copies have a loose connection. Perhaps floor polish, or any other joint tightener, is what you need to fix it.

 

Found him for 20$ at Ollies. Was kinda hoping I would. Definitly a good figure. For some reason he reminds me of Armada/Energon Tidal Wave. (who would make a perfect Phase Sixer) Probably because of how he splits with the legs forming one vehicle. Too bad they didn't make the one stomach gun flip down.

Sadly it just doesn't seem to hold worth a damn. Might have been better going with the clip like Sky Shadow was supposed to have had. I can do what I assume is the Japanese Super Jet mode by leaving the legs connected to the back of the jet.

My other problem was that the gun pegged way to well into the holes. I was afraid I was going to break something getting it out of the tank mode. I scraped the paint on the peg off, and now it's fine.

Getting Darkwing and Dreadwind convinced me to go ahead and order this guy.

Robot mode looks great and does everything you could want him to. Actually tempted to buy a couple more Prime Masters so I can have something to plug into his chest.

Base mode is okey. Sky Shadow's unified color scheme makes his work much better. Kinda nice to have at all and the idea of plugging the likes of Overlord and Sixshot into Trypticon is just juicy. Baseforming had so much potential.

Vehicle modes are a bust. Individually they are okey. My figure came with a couple of QC issues. The one armpit does not lock in at all. It just pops right off again (not loose, it just doesn't lock) and neither of the arms hold in their collapsed forms for spit. I'm sure the latter is an easy fix but I'm not sure what I can do about the former short of replacing the figure. So far I've just learned to live with it.

And that combined mode. Damn, what a bust. Can't believe that Sky Shadow does it so much better.

The jet mode looks good with his henchmen Dreadwind and Darkwing. If you manage to get the Dreadwing combo to work they are even about the same size. It is a shame that combo mode didn't work better, but given they retooled scramble city combiner bots into those two I'm not surprised and how it game out.

Finally got his chest to look just right. Using Elita's Enigma and Prima Prime from Amazon's Punch Counterpunch.

 

That's cool, I've been using Megatronus and (Repugnus) Solus.



In fact, he's the only figure I've got actually using the Prime Masters like that.

 

A year and change after the first review for this guy, I have Overlord in my hands! Goddamn, this dude is an absolute unit. I paid $30 for him at a con and I couldn't be happier. He feels so much bigger than he really is, it's kind of insane as to how much engineering went into this guy to make him the definitive version of the character. If they never make another Overlord figure and just leave it at this guy, I'll be satisfied.

 

Is it possible to get Overlord’s chest completely closed with Prime Masters installed? We bought Megatronus and Solus and can’t get the chest closed?

 

I'm interested in this as well. I want to try it myself, but I'm worried that I won't be able to get the TR out if I push them too far in.
