Titans Return Overboard Overboard is another name change, in this case he's the Decepticon formerly known as Overkill. The names are close and virtually mean the ems thing. In a way it's a little disappointing he's shown up as a Titanmaster as it probably reduces the chances of their being a Legends Tape version to go with Soundwave, not that they look like doing many more after Wave 2 anyway! I suspect the logic for doing Overkill from Crashbash is that the Universe Overkill was a repaint of Classics Grimlock and Grimlock's already been done from Crashbash as Clobber. Colour Swaps: Crashbash's purple becomes blue and the grey becomes much lighter, almost white. The Dinosaur head gets a paint app to make it white too. The Titanmaster uses the original Crashbash face but I do wonder if they'd have been better going with Grimlock's. Stats: Fifth Crashbash dinosaur/dragon use (Crashbash, Clobber, Batora, Servant & Overboard), third in the west and in consecutive waves too! Fourth use of the Titanmaster, Third in the west, again in consecutive waves. Third use of that Titanmaster face, second in the west. It's a good toy and probably still the best Titanmaster but I think that's enough for now! Against that the Dinosaur looks really nice and very Overkill so, if they weren't doing him as a tape, the use of repainting Crashbash is a sensible one. =- No photos today, the batteries are dead in both cameras, can't find the charger and my hands are really wonky in the wet weather so the pictures wouldn't be that good anyway! However there are some pictures in adam@16Bit's review at 16bit.com Figure of the Day Review: Hasbro Transformers Generations Titans Return Overboard Action Figure
I quite like the dinosaur mode, its the best IMO of all the Titan Master mini beasts/vehicles. At least until Fangry is released. Didn't stop Brawn from having a Titan Master and a Titans Return Legends toy.
True enough. However I just get the feeling the moment has passed for the tape Legends UNLESS Soundblaster and Twincast come out. Even then there's a backlog of repaints to work through: Eject, Frenzy, possibly Steeljaw. And, if Titans Return goes to six waves like Combiner Wars, I struggle to see where there's enough free slots to do the two tape deck repaints, Overlord and the rumoured Delta Magnus plus the "it'd be stupid not to" Thunderwing.
Had a little bit of quality control issues on mine out of the package in terms of things not being on their hinges quite right, but resolved with a little bit of massaging. He looks fine, and there's nothing objectively wrong with him, but he's definitely in more of the category of "purchased to get the rest of the wave in one package" than anything else.
Mine has such awful QC I'm returning it. Mainly, the left wing absolutely will not stay in the socket at all. Plus a lot of small things. But "literally pops apart" is a deal-killer.
I really wish they used the Grimlock face. It's way better, and Overkill has actually had it before. Twice, even. I still love the colors. I have since G1. If he had Grimlock's face, this would be my favorite use of the mold. Bar-none. Also, one thing to note, the head is blue painted white. It's got me really worried about chipping issues since the paint is pretty thick.
