They are not, however, widely available.

Eww... That Sentinel looks UG A LEE. Yuck. So, does this make Charon a new and separate character?

    Too close to Genitals.

Am I missing something? Couldn't they have gone with Brainstorm? You know, the character's name?

Could be a UK/Europe only thing. Also, Charon was one of Windblade's possible names in the fan poll.

Well that's odd. The boxes we've seen of the Titan Force set have all said Brainstorm up to this point as well. Doesn't really matter though, it's still Brainstorm (unless you're one of those people who absolutely insist on referring to toys of established characters by their new trademark-friendly name).

You might be right. Look closely at the name. You can see it's actually a black sticker on a black background, kinda like what Hasbro did for Spastic. This is obviously a last-minute name change.

I bet it was worry of a possible copyright issue. There is a toy company in the UK named Brainstorm. Probably just a quick last minute fix. I don't know if the"Autobot Brainstorm" trick works under UK copyright, or maybe they thought it wouldn't look good putting it in on the sticker, so they went with a name we know wanted but haven't secured yet.

I bet the SDCC and other non-uk releases still say Brainstorm without a sticker.

offered without comment. Make of the following what you will.
In 2008 Tunbridge Wells Borough Council asked staff not to use the term 'brainstorming' as it may be offensive to those with epilepsy. In a survey 93% of those with epilepsy did not find the term derogatory or offensive in any way and many felt that this sort of political correctness singled out people with epilepsy as being easily offended.

I think they can't name him Charonstorm because the name sounds very similar to Sharon Stone :bay

Looks like a last second emergency fix like what happened with Spastic / Overrun's change back in PCC.

I officially authorize you all to call him Brainstorm though, just not outside the house please.

Was T30 Brainstorm released in Europe or was the line skipped (as it was over here)?

    UPDATE: Source.
    https://www.facebook.com/a1toys/pho...0.1468688205./839555896175946/?type=3&theater

Where did you find this image? Is this a leak? Was this posted by an official retailer, seeing as A1 Toys is referenced?

It's always helpful to state a source instead of just dumping an image link with no context.

I was about to say "But this is a Hasbro Toy Shop/San Diego Comic-Con set, those don't get released in Europe!", but then I noticed that not only the name is on a sticker, but the age label as well, and the large "8+" age label is a dead ringer for Europe.

So what I can gather from what little context the image itself offers, A1 Toys is going to carry this set, and at least their version has Brainstorm renamed into "Charon".

Also, there's no trademark claim after the name, so this cannot be a US thing.

You seem to be dead on track, although it's trademark, not copyright. Both are part of the larger "intellectual property" field, but they're about as different as cars and motorcycles (which are both motorized vehicles).

Also, "Autobot someone" has NEVER been a "trick" to use a name trademarked by someone else. It was always used ONLY to strengthen names that would be hard to defend as trademarks by themselves. "Jazz", "Hound", "Ratchet", "Tracks", "Groove" etc. are all real words, and they weren't occupied by someone else or Hasbro couldn't have used them, with or without prefix.

He wasn't released properly through Hasbro (Thrilling 30 was Toys"R"Us exclusive in the UK and Germany, and a one wave only deal), but the Voyagers (including Brainstorm) were later released in the UK as imported overstock in US packaging.

D'oh. Yes, trademark not copyright. Didn't know adding the factions was for strengthening rather than distinguishing the trademarks. Good to know.

Good to see the set will have another exclusive release. Seems like Hasbro has been better about getting more exclusives to multiple continents lately.
