I posted this in another thread and it's worth saying here too: I was never a fan of Generations Kup. The vehicle mode wasn't Kup at all. Plus like alot of Classics Transformers from that time period, he was a PITA to transform. He also needed an aftermarket head to look halfway decent. Although I will say that the aesthetic of the iGear head never matched the body that well. The best thing about Generations Kup was by far his rifle. While I'm not a fan of the dark gunmetal grey (black?) head on Titans Return Kup, his vehicle mode alone easily makes him a far better Kup than the Generations version. IMO setting the paint scheme aside, Titans Return Kup looks fantastic in not only vehicle mode but in robot mode too. TR Kup will make a nice stand-in on my shelf until the Takara version (which will no doubt have a vastly superior paint job) comes out.
What i'm planning too. I bought the igear heads especially for the purpose of fitting him on a AHM collectiin
I still don't see a black head. I see a grey head that looks darker in the packaged image, but looks grey in the more well lit unpackaged images.
I don't get this complaint. G1 Kup was a "futuristic" pickup truck. Most of Generations up to that point has been updating G1 characters in realistic vehicle modes, so of course Kup's going to be a real world pickup truck. (His name is even derived from 'picKup truck') Why would he have been any different? Also, fixed.
I hate literally everything about Kup's face - how human it is, the hat-helmet, the cigar...but having swappable heads? And that dope vehicle mode? I'm in.
I'll get him, and I will call him Shitpiece. I like these figures but, I can't stand the titan heads. Especially on Leader Class
The gun mount in vehicle mode really had me perplexed. Damn hear every other deluxe Titan Returns toy has had the ability to have a Titan Master manning the gun in vehicle mode, but with Kup it's dropped. The one bot that it would work for and nope.
I prefer straight up G1 modes. Not updated Earth modes. Its that simple. I can understand updating the Earth modes of the guys that had Earth modes in G1. (Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Jazz, Hound, Optimus Prime Etc. Etc. Etc.) But the guys like Blurr and Kup who never had Earth modes shouldn't have been forced into that box. Blurr should be a futuristic Cybertronian flying car not a vague looking Earth sports car. Kup should be a futuristic Cybertronian pickup truck. Not a vague looking Earth pickup truck/standard car hybrid (think Chevrolet El Camino or Chevrolet SSR) Also thanks for the fix. But that was totally unnecessary.
I sort of dig it. I didn't need a new G1/Toon/IDW Kup, the Generations one is absolutely amazing. One of the best toys to come out. But G1 Marvel? That is definitely a niche I'm happy to buy into!
I have to ask is the picture the actual figure in package or just a packaging sample? I won't be worried about the head until se see a better pic of the actual figure or the figure at Toyfair. I love the Alt mode too. I do like the Generations Kup don't get me wrong. With that said I always wanted an updated Kup sense we got Blurr.
"Listen up you turbo revin' young punks, back in my day, we had different colored heads, and if somebody wanted to yank it off and stick some other 'bots head in its place, then just the way it was. And we liked it!" I'm sick, that was one of the first things to pop in my mind when I saw the figure...
This needs to get up on the front page. The image quality might not be the best, but we just got our first look at Hasbro's TR Kup figure, who will probably make it to wave four or five, alongside Perceptor. They seem to be using TR to round out the '85 and '86/Movie cast, in addition to the classic headmasters, targetmasters, and powermasters.
