Also agree, the whole "metagame" thing killed it for me, as a casual player. I just wanted the cards, I didn't seek anything specific. Wish they just did character packs.

I'm not begrudging you anything at all but it sounds like you just want Transformers Trading Cards, not a Trading Card Game. And that's completely fine but I can't say the downfall of the TCG was that it was a game, not just a trading card set. I just think it didn't have the pull the initial set seemed to have and there's a million reasons we can point to. Whatever the reason, it's sad but I'm still going to play and get boxes for continued sealed events

For fans who do want to still play in events, we're working on keeping the game alive via a formal player committee. We'll be holding tournaments, working on rules tweaks, rebalancing stuff, and have new cards that will be playable in competitive events soon!

I've played lots of TCGs before, so I know/knew how it works, I went all in on Waves 1 and 2.

The point I was trying to make was that once I opted to "get out of the game" (didn't feel like spending the $$$ to "catch em all to stay current", it would have been have been cool if they did packs that were JUST character cards or JUST battle cards or something.

MY PERSONAL ENJOYMENT shifted from trying to chase getting 3 of each battle card in order to make a "good deck" to wanting to play with the cards I had but have more character options, which as a bonus, I loved the artwork of.

But alas, they didn't do that, I (again personally) couldn't justify the $$ and opted out.

Anyways, I think that "casual players", i.e., myself, who are fans of the property (Transformers) first, didn't buy into the game 100% because it is a time sink (to find groups, play, do tournaments, etc) and money sink (waves every few months)........that the game didn't catch on with that group.

And on the other side, "hardcore players", i.e., people that LOVE TCGs (regardless of property), go to all the events, live and breath the game........didn't get the support on Hasbro side to market it properly.

    Oh well.

My kid and I had fun farting around with it, but I'm not a huge CCG player/collector.

Not saying you didn't know how it work. Again, I'm not saying you were wrong at all. It wasn't your thing, cool.

But you keep mentioning having just character packs and just battle card packs. Is there any TCG on earth that does that? In my limited knowledge of them, I don't know any.

    1) Darn it. I won't get to see how the designers would have come up with cards for Punch/Counterpunch and Doubledealer.

    2) Will Super rare card values go up in price, down or stay the same?

    3) Will Hasbro Pulse put the Omnibots pack & G1 Blaster vs Soundwave starter set on clearance?

    4) Will promos like Nightbird, Tidal Wave or Flamewar be easier or harder to get ahold of?

    5) Will any errors in the Companion app be corrected or has app support already ended?

Man, finances have been so tight that I haven't been able to get any Wave 5. I do hope prices drop so I can get the *7* SRTs for a reasonable price.

I went to my flgs to pick up some more wave 5 in light of this, but they had already long sold out.

I picked up a box of seige II instead, some packs of seige I, and told them about the cancellation.

When Marvel OverPower first came out, there were 6 starter decks that each came with 4 fixed characters included. Some of the starters sold well while others with less desirable characters collected dust on shelves. After that, they switched to randomized starter decks like you would see in M:TG sets of that era (e.g. 4th Edition, 5th Edition, Ice Age, Mirage, etc.).

If they sold fixed packs in TF TCG, it would be the same problem. People would want the Megatron & Optimus Prime packs and not buy Bumblebee or Ransack.

If they would have packed some cards in with figures, we might not be in this mess. :)

It brought plenty of people in that never touched a card game before and are unlikely to touch another one going forward. The audiences weren't mutually exclusive, of course, but it's not like for every pack sold MTG lost the sale of one.

I will never touch a TCG after this again, especially not from WotC.

Considering that, unlike MtG, you could only play with one of said characters. It really didn't need to have more than 1 per pack. Despite that, Wave 3 and on changed that with the addition of micromasters, Battle Master, and Titan Master characters
