There will be more pics when I paint the high-detail black acrylate print I got, but since that takes many, many coats and a lot of time, here's the White Strong & Flexible test print which I hand painted earlier today. I made a few adjustments to the model to make the facial features read more clearly at that scale and to tighten the neck connection, and this kit is now available here. As easy figure-mods go, this one's super simple. For G1 Hubcap, you just paint the head and put it on Bumlbebee. For G2, you do the same and put it on Roadburn. Further heads for Bumblebee/Roadburn will be made if this kit does well. EDIT: Here's the Black High-Definition Acrylate version: This should give an idea of the relative difference between a White, Strong and Flexible print and a Frosted Detail or Black Acrylate print.
That is 10 X's more Hubcap that Bumblebee! And all you had to was change the head. You saved the mold. That goin up on Shapeways?
Great work! Hope the neck plug doesn't get too fragile. Definitely makes a better hubcap than bee. Can't wait to see Cliff.
Sweet! Any chance of adding white acrylate? It's easier to paint yellow than black, otherwise you need a base coat.
And now I want a Bumblebee. I don't know whether this just suits the mould better or I'm just sick of Bumblebee but now I want one and that head because of SOTW.
I love all these shapeways items, but I hate that they need painted. I would pay extra if shapeways offered an extra service of painting them before they ship.
