Uh guys the new Rodimus with any of its flaws blows that toy away in my opinion. Classics Rodimus was not a fun toy at all..... Now Classics Astrotrain, that was a thing of beauty.

I really liked BIS classics Rodimus, but his arm always comes put of socket, which makes it difficult to enjoy the figure.

It's a sleeker profile, sure...but for me, at least, it doesn't look terribly too different from the original it is supposed to replace. Same foot transformation and limitations, same forearms but no buzzsaw this time, elbows don't appear to have swivel joints, and the better shoulders only end up blocking the giant spoiler.

We need better pictures before we can really judge if it is a real improvement.

I will hold off judgement until we see a solid prototype not the computer rendering. This figure is still in the design stage and we have not seen a hard copy of it yet.

Hotrod with his tiny legs and giant gorilla arms. yup, that's hotrod alright. >_>

They never get him right. especially with that tiny little head.

It's like classics hotrod, but in all the wrong ways.

the torso looks really bad too. oh well...

Haha, this right here. At least Classics Roddy is proportionate. I have the old Henkei version, I still like it. I just want a new Rodinus Prime.

The Hot Rod in the picture is a hard copy, hand painted figure and not a rendering.

The elbows are on mushroom pegs, like every other recent deluxe.

I still prefer Classics Hot Rod, the only positive I can see about this new one is that its not Pointy McPointerson (IDW Hot Rod). But other than that this new one just doesn't have anything going for him, he's way out of proportion, and he is less accurate than Classics Hot Rod.

It has already been done, in fact. Energon Rodimus (which was a deluxe class figure) was redecoed to be Thunderclash in the Botcon 2009 set. Looks especially good with Legends-class figures. CW Legends Rodimus to Energon Rodimus as "Hot Rod to Rodimus Prime" works pretty well, too.

It's actually a pretty fun figure. If it had been a larger class I expect both versions would be a mainstay of most "classics" collections.

As for the figure - I like the way the prototype looks. Arms seem a little big but I'm hoping he'll have more articulation than the Classics figure (which I like, but seems very out of date compared to other classics-type figures). Still don't know how I feel about the Headmaster thing, but if it's a fun figure, it won't bother me much.

yeah, i think this one has some nice improvements (TRI-BLASTERS!!!), but for every improvement i feel like there is something else that's off (massive shoulders, weird recessed abdomen, inaccurate spoiler that sits too low on his back...) and retains my biggest peeve of the Classics design, the engine block being part of the chest :banghead:

Ya I give it points for the Tri-Blasters, but the weird proportions and odd abdomen really hurt this figure. Also, I don't like how it resembles Animated Hot Rod. (I'm not an Animated fan)

I like this figure. Just wish it was a target master instead of a head master... same and only gripe i have with scourge and blur also.

Shit, I just realized that CW Rodimus would make the perfect micromaster Hot Rod counterpart for that possible Star Convoy out of the leaked G2 Prime mold.

RIGHT?! I love Legends Hot Rod just for his resemblance to Micromaster Hot Rod already, and now that we're getting Star Convoy/Laser Prime in TR, he's just gotten that much more rad. :D

No, I meant the ugly, underwhelming upcoming Tanker Optimus. I'm fine with Li'l Rodimus.
