    Damn, guess I'm not alone.

I was thrilled the restock or whatnot happened on TRU because I would have been very upset if I hadn't gotten Grotesque. BTW, is he just misspelled on purpose? Or is it really "Grotusque?" But yeah, my right claw pops off every time you move it. No matter what. And he sucks at staying together in alt mode. Which is a shame because I really wanted him for the Alt mode. The robot legs are a mess trying to tab them all shut. And its weird trying to get him to stand in monster mode.

But I can't help but love this guy! He might be one of my top favorite deluxes!

Yes. His name is Grotusque. It's a play on the word Grotesque.

*Bonus: Grotesque is a Gargoyle without a water spout. The alt mode is definitely a form of gargoyle. In addition, many Grotusques are Chimeras which is a half feline, half dragon. Fits Grotusque perfectly.

Once you get used to tabbing the hips in in monster mode, it's a piece of cake and holds together solidly.

Well, got Grotusque today, and this figure rocks. It's easily one of the best of the line. It truly owns the Twinferno mold.
So much paint, so many new details, that head...
    Yep. I'm sold.

Is anyone else having issues with the weapon storage staying tabbed in in robot mode? I can get one to stay in fine but the other will fall out the slightest touch.

The slots either side of his upper monster head, if so then, yes, it is a common issue with many reports of some being so tight they stress. So many I decided to store mine on the wings (or one wing) in bot mode if not in his hand, and that was before I got my copy and it turned out to have a malformation inside them that I had to correct with cutting, Milliput and paint. I'd advise against using them unless you don't mind possible stress marking.

The more I look at it, I'm not a fan of the alt mode at all. Hate is a strong word but it's definitely close.

Don't get me wrong. The monster headsculpt is fantastic. But, the words "Weird" and "awkward" come to mind when looking at the beast/monster mode.

The proportions are way off. The claws are shaped weird w/the rest of the arm. The body is too wide for the skinny little chicken legs. He doesn't pose well in monster mode at all. It's near impossible to get him in a cool looking pose. Plus, he doesn't have a natural flying pose either because his head doesn't swivel upward.

Bot mode is one of the best around. Beast/Monster mode is trash.

I can't say Grotusque owns this mold because the monster mode is so far off. I love Grotusque but Twinferno is better because both of his modes are good and not just one.

I couldn't even fathom paying the $80 to $150 plus for Grotusque on the secondary market before he showed up at TRU.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I just got Grotusque yesterday (actually my 1st Deluxe Class!), & I had a question about his transformation. When transforming into his alt mode, is the the hip part (don't know what else to call it) supposed to tab into the back spine part somehow? Every review I've seen doesn't mention an issue, but I'm just not seeing anyway it's supposed to connect. I figure I'm missing something somewhere.

Yeah, the centre of the hip/foot's ankle plate top side tabs on to diagonal tab at the base of his spine, the legs and body have to be in a shallow v-shaped alignment to do it.

Okay, my problem must be the angle I have the legs & body set at. I've been keeping them in a straight alignment. Thanks, glad someone knew what I was trying to say ha ha.

That's it, you just need to line the centre hole with the angle of the tab. It's not super clear in either his or Twinferno's instructions .

Haven't gotten this figure, was tempted to try but I missed the bandwagon sadly.

Also, Skreeeonk, your name makes me chuckle. A+

He's an awesome figure if you can find him around retail, but it's hard to recommend double that for a deluxe.

I missed this guy on HTS and of course with TRU being closed I am out of luck. Was it ever mentioned if he will get a regular release at retail?

I wouldn't count on any further retail release (outside of any possible future Takara release), but Amazon has some for fairly reasonable prices ($35-40).

I know this is an old thread, but I bought three of this guy back in the day, and they all had the same problem: a loose as hell left hand due to the way the figure is packaged. Is that universal? And is there any way to fix it?
