I have no attachment to Grotesque the character or the G1 toy but I love the head sculpt on this guy, hopefully it'll be available at retail.

You know it's love when a QC ouchie doesn't even dent the affection.

Despite some atrocious mould stuff in his monster head gun lugholes...
    [IMG] [IMG]
...which admittedly isn't the bestest on a £55 squid figure.

    I. Do. Not. Care.

    No remorse.

Though of course it helps that at this point even on a £55 figure I am confident enough these days to just plough ahead with an exploratory craft knifing of the worst flashing and crack on with a first coat of cement grey acrylic.
(It actually blends better by eye than in phonepics but I may get a slightly darker grey in there.)

    [IMG] [IMG]

As to that preventing gun stowing, well, because every case I've seen of someone doing that they've proved super tight or even stressed in usage that was never gonna happen anyway!
(Also if it really ends up bugging me the head's two halves screwed together, so as long as Takara doesn't bork the Monster head, a transplant may be viable!)

Apart from that minor finish issue the QC is great (touch wood, glances over to Grotusque to check a leg or arm hasn't dropped off as I type) no loose ankle swivel/monster hip swivel as I feared there might be, great paint apps and no floppiness/looseness. And the back end of grotesque mode clips together the best of any copy of the mould type I've handled.
Yeah, his gun is a bit loose in hand (almost like maybe the tolerance was calculated for a painted gun handle), and it lacks the central handle I'd prefer for twin gun mode, but that's easily remedied.

    I have him.

My lovely monster boy. Lovely, lovely monster boy!
    [IMG] [IMG]
(Also he now sounds like Keith David voicing Goliath from Gargoyles in my head.)

Also my lovely, tiny monster boy!
    Glorious!

    Lovely, lovely monster boy!
    [IMG] [IMG][IMG]
The simple but effective 180 turn of the arms for transformation is pretty genius, he does end up with armpit flaps, yeah, but the shift in arm proportions is a lovely visual trick, plus the both directions elbows are gonna be great for beastly clawing poses I reckon. I can't wait for @Maz to get his hands (& lens) on him 'cause I reckon he'll really make him sing!
As I said, the leg/tail section on mine is pretty much perfect on the tolerances, clips together beautifully solidly and the decent monster hip/ankle swivel means, well, if the tradeoff for them is a bit of scruffiness inside a slot, I will take that and party!

That sabretooth tiger head though! It's exquisite sculpt PLUS Godlike Genius engineering. They only need to remould the back/upper head part and the foreclaws (in the right colours obviously) for a effing brilliant Fangry, he surely must happen down the line even if it is after TOTP that they do it - IT MUST BE DONE!!!

Now if Nonnef could just do me a nice centre-pegged non combining twin gun, that'd be lovely!

Got mine earlier this week and considering it's probably the last figure from Titans Return - they've ended up on a real high note. I've added a review (link in my sig) to my website, but I absolutely love this toy. It's a retool of a figure I wasn't keen on but it's so much better

He is back in stock at Robotkingdom. I bit the bullet and ordered one. He's the only TR figure I don't have so I just did it. Now to play the waiting game until he gets here.

Wow what Scorponok body is that?

Just got my TRU order, this guy is much tighter than Doublecross, fixes most issues I had with him. Love the fully painted headmasters.

However, be careful with the titan master foot pegs on the gun, I had Scorponok plugged in there and when i tried pulling him out, it snapped off both f those pegs. Not sure if he's just tighter than normal Masters or what.

That is the last pic of Scorponok and the other Decepticon Headmasters with ReproLabels and Skullcrunchers leg upgrades for greater stability.

Count me in the list of people that didn't know a grotesque was an actual sculpture/creature. Interesting.

I'm a little salty when it comes to this figure. Yes, it's an exceptional figure, but it should be Fangry. The mold BEGS to be a fangry. I'm hoping Takara makes Fangry out of this mold.

Mate! I liked your post because of the Samus Amiibo in the back then I saw Wargreymon? Is that Wargreymon? Which one?

You obviously have good taste to have three awesome characters one photo.

I thnk it's the Monsterarts one, there is a better version that came out afterwards in the regular figuarts line where it's cell shaded with improved joints and less looseness in the joints.

After being wary because Doublecross was so iffy... Grotusque is so much better than Doublecross it's not even funny. His tail actually sticks together, his hands are more useful (as in he can actually hold his guns while Doublecross had problems) and arm is more articulated, and the cat head is more interesting to look at.

The downside is the cat head isn't very articulated at all, but I suppose that has to do with its jaw becoming the robot chest and the head folding neatly away in the back, which couldn't happen otherwise if the head remained intact. Compromises, compromises.

Scorponok is nice and hefty. I don't have any real plans for him, but I felt that I had to have him.

Anyway, I agree with some other observations-- this guy would've made a decent Fangry.
