I want this just because it looks so ridiculous! I must have been into something else when I was young to skip all these crazy ass monster transformers!

    I agree..i looks very cool.

I never had any love for this character..until someone joked about his G1 "monster" being a rabid war gerbil..then I laughed and wanted one.

It's a shame this figure didn't take the other Monsterbot's place in the original line up.
Because honestly I think it would do better too, because the two headed dragon is kinda of a peg warmer.

Did I miss it or haven't there been any pictures of Scorponok on Quakes body? Seems to me that would be the natural choice.

Yeah...I'm with you on this. They're really absurd and wonderful designs.

Do you remember what you were collecting instead? I was super into Battlebeasts by the time these guys were coming out. I did get G1 Repugnus back then but it wasn't until a few years back that I got G1 Grotusque (pictured)...and I actually have a G1 Doublecross on the way! I only took me 30 years to complete the set. :D

I still love those damn Battlebeasts.

Maybe...On the other hand, Twinferno may have been the victim of unbalanced case assortments. I think it's a darned solid figure and it presents well in the package too. You might be right that Grotusque might have sold better but I don't think that Twinferno was any kind of a flop for being an unappealing toy...Just my opinion.

Damn it. I would but Quake is one of the very few TR figures that I don't have. If someone can post this up, it would be very welcome.

If he had been released then, his awesome titan master would have been unpainted and dull. As much as I enjoy the Hasbro Twinferno, I am really looking forward to getting the legends version now because of the better deco for the TM.

You're not helping! A rabid war gerbil? Gah thats awesome!

I honestly can't remember. It might have been the Kenner stuff for all the movies I loved as a kid. But I'm really regretting skipping over all this wacky stuff! The Terrorcons are nuts! I never knew Transformers got this weird!

I've heard that Grotusque's meant to be a Gargoyle and looking at some of the details on him I can actually see that.

He's supposed to be a grotesque, as his name implies.

I get that. I was just talking about the type of monster mode he's supposed to have specifically.

I got mine today. He's pretty great. I can't believe this thing got made. The engineering is largely the same as before, but a lot of the mold is new. It's amazing how different it comes out looking.

One thing to note though. The box is really pretty slick too (more of these Hasbro), but the one I got was completely beat to shit. Scuff marks all over it. A slightly folded front flap in the corner. Maybe I got bad luck, but anyone looking for a "MIB" copy of this is going to be looking quite hard, because no work was put into protecting the boxes in shipping.

Big fan of the toy, but for the money I spent, I would hope that the box didn't look like it was moved shelf to shelf at a ToysRUs for 18 months.

I totally see where that's coming from...and I can't refute this other than to point out that at least in the opinions of the designers of the TR version, he's supposed to be at least part sabre tooth tiger. Otherwise, the choice of the Titanmaster design for Fengul wouldn't make sense.

Also, the concept design art (posted up on the main page 10/7/17, 5:55PM) really points to this being almost a sabretooth tiger Fuzor of sorts!

Agreed on all points. It sounds like the box that mine came in wasn't quite as beaten up as yours but it was definitely not what I'd call "case fresh." It's likely that someone found a way to shave some time and/or cost out of the manufacturing process by skipping a step designed to protect packages that need to look pretty on retail shelves....since these collector's club style deluxes seem to be 100% online only.

I also have a thought... perhaps it's in part just the all-black exterior that makes it stand out... kind of like how a black car gets dirty looking pretty easy. Mine is certainly beat up more than your average box, but maybe its just how the eye works making it look unusual. If there was colored TR art on the exterior, it would probably be much harder to notice.

Oh yeah...good point there. These are going to be way more susceptible to showing signs of any rough handling.

It's always nice when everyone has the same problem like this. It's not like you're the only guy who got a bum copy. :D
