I didn't see a thread for this dude yet...so here are short some first impressions.
Tons of pics here: Titans Return Grotusque in hand

I heard about this guy at about 11AM yesterday and the damn thing showed up on my doorstep today. I'm in CT so not exactly right next door to their warehouse...so go figure!

Like Hascon Arcee, this guy comes in a box that is identical at a glance. Also like Arcee, this one came pre-shelfworn. The black on the outer box was a bit scuffed but otherwise, ok.

The figure itself is frankly beautiful. The spirit of the original G1 Grotusque's interesting and tasteful color scheme has been captured well. Unfortunately, this means there is a lot of paint including on the head of the Titanmaster himself (Fengul--more on him later). There is the potential for some wear to show if you plan to handle this guy a lot.

The wings and everything from the waist down are straight up reuses from Twinferno (crotch plate not withstanding). The torso as well may be a reuse but the arms, shoulders, and beast bits are all new. Grotusque certainly feels something like Twinferno but they look very different. One weird side effect of the new monster head assembly on his back is that the weapons can no longer be pegged on in robot mode. Not a big deal.

Fengul (Titanmaster) is gorgeous. He's painted to resemble the sabretooth tiger Battle Beast which is just insanely amazing. The colors on that little guy are delicious. This is possibly my favorite TM of the whole line.

Transformation is comparable in complexity and fun to Twinferno, IMO. The legs transform identically but the weird leg tabs work a bit easier for whatever reason. The beast mode is ghastly and wonderful and looks good from more angles than Twinferno. The resemblance to the classic figure is fantastic.

Just wanted to get the conversation started...can't wait to hear what you guys think!

    Simply put, he looks fantastic!

Hopefully I can pick him up for a not obscene amount of money sometime down the road!

Not to worry. Word is that he should be plentiful...since this is probably the last official reveal for TR, it’s a nice send-off for a fantastic toy line.

I have always thought that MonsterBots were Hasbro's attempt at finding a replacements for the Dinobots

I love this dude and hopefully Hasbro makes good on making him more readily available because this figure should get to anyone who wants him. Grotusque is like Hasbro's apology for Doublecross/Twinfire. "Hey we know Twinfire was kinda lame so to make up for it we tried to fix him." On mine there's still issues with the tail tabbing together but other than that he's a really fun figure. The way his jaw transformers into his chest is super cool and the colors are absolutely amazing.

Man holding him in hand does he feel like something Fun Publication would of done, maybe not all that heavy retooling but all the paint? That automatically made me satisfied. I liked Doublecross but he had his issues like for instance his gorilla arms but the moment I saw pics of Grotesque I noticed they fixed it! Face sculpt also looks a little busy. But I am very satisfied with Grotesque more so then Doublecross and happy to have another Monsterbot on my Classics shelf, its a shame he has such limited releases right now as I think everyone should have a chance at this guy and really consider picking one up.

For anyone who cares, my packing and cards, etc ID Grotusque as an autobot. Also, I like that they added the alternate weapon storage in bot mode. I also appreciate the very sturdy connection for the monsters throat. Am I the only one who thinks Fengul sounds like an Italian curse word?

    Cybertronian adoption, they're progressive Monsterbots.

I know people have their own preferences, but for the record (and for the benefit of people who don’t have him yet), these are the official transformations of the shoulders as documented in the instructions. Beast mode on top, robot on bottom.

The size of Repugnus suddenly makes alot more sense. He's a bug monster so insects *should* be smaller than dragons.

Now if I can only find myself a damn Repugnus.

Got mine today, really digging him. He may be one of my favorite TR figures so far. Do wish some of the pieces like his shoulders and face were cast in the white color, though.

love the beast head sculpt, its really great. They even included slots on the side of the head so you can store the guns on his back in robot mode.

why couldn't this figure have been a mail away?

I miss that kind of shit so much. The last mail away for me was the 25th Joe line to get Doc...man..THAT was awesome. I remember there was a mail away ravage for ROTF I think...

This one looks great..I hope I end up with one. Didnt I even hear a new repugnus in the works from a computer listing?
