Well, for those who don;t like the Headmaster gimmick, the classics one isn't a Headmaster. I loved the rub symbol that it had, too. For those that prefer a somewhat more realistic style of train mode, as opposed to the battle-train, the Classics one is better for that. really, I don't see either of these being substantially better than the other. I loved the 2006 Classics Astrotrain, and this looks good too, just for different reasons.

 

On the plus side that means prototypes have never been cheaper.

 

All the TR heads (and therefore faces) are the same size* in order to increase the cross-play functionality. That's why the voyagers and leaders and gimmicks to "bulk up" the head, like those pylons on either side of the head on Astrotrain & Sentinel Prime.


*Except for Cerebros, of course.

 

Yeah, especially since it's a big blocky freight train looking engine. I like it, too. Plus, I actually like the gigantic scale. (when you figure the heads are "normal" robots and the bodies are actually titanic "suits")

 

this will be a deep discounted sale item for me.

Its not bad..but sentinal looks cooler if you ask me..and having chigurgh I see no reason unless I see a good clearance or sale.

Yes it is, but for some reason, Apeface's head looks really small, compared to others. Probably because he has his helmet design "built-in"? Compared to other, they're more or less just "Head-only" (Darkmoon's for example, looks like a white capsule from front, without his pop-up thingy sides. Apeface's head looks more complete than that), but that's just my theory.

 

Thing is, That's what Astrotrain's head looks like even without the pop-up things. Astrotrain is no more or less a head than Apeface.

I think it's just a trick of the colour, since the helmet being purple doesn't stand out as much as it Astrotrain's white helmet does, which combined with Apeface's black eyes makes the mouthplate the focal point, which gives the illusion of a smaller face compared to Astrotrain.

I am loving this guy. Glad to finally have an Astrotrain in my collection. I think I now have at least one figure for each of my top ten favorite Decepticons. And I really hope we get a voyager Octane to complete the three amigos.

Someone on the Titans Return page helped me cause I had issues removing Darkmoon but by reversing the head I have restored the Titan Master gimmick!

My only gripes are the terrible paint on the optics and the fact that Darkmoon shares the same faults as Infinitus and that he has VERY floppy legs.

 

Now that I have both him and Infinitus (SP), the cool gray makes the details pop unlike the orange. Might need to tighten his right shoulder screw, there is a huge gap present.

Displaying him with train feet whereas SP has boat feet.

Edit 9-9-16: Shoulder screw was extremely loose, nice job Hasbro. Went back to boat feet for more stability

 

I prefer to think of the heads as being nebulans or tiny robots with the bodies being regular sized Transformers, just like in the 80s. Nightbeat isn't Nightbeat turning into his own head, its Muzzle turning into Nightbeat's head. And Clobber isn't Grimlock renamed, Clobber is the name of the Titan Master who turns into his partner Grimlock's head. Its just unfortunate that Hasbro only saw fit to put one name on the packaging for Titan Masters.

 

Maybe he wasn't talking about the robot mode. His robot mode is awesome. It's the altmodes where everything goes pear-shaped.

 

Does anyone have any issues with Darkmoon's legs 'sticking out' when he's in head mode. Many of the other heads fit far more flush.



Also frustrates me that for some Titan Masters they put a bar through the hips to hold the legs in place but for some like this guy they didn't, so Darkmoon's legs can come up off easier.
