    Here's the review for Skullcruncher.

As a preface this figure is in some ways the best and worst of the bunch. Strange to hear but you'll probably understand by the end.

First up beast mode is great with some VERY clever ideas. Gator head is on a ball joint and the mouth is highly detailed. The tail is on swivel so pose this guy in many different ways.

It would have very easy not to make a detailed tongue inside the head but they did, good job!

Also you could pose him in a swimming pose (disclaimer: I've never seen one of the most dangerous animals on the planet swimming so this is a guess).

    Some other beast snaps

The headmaster sits inside the back. The cockpit is revealed by opening up a soft plastic flap. Not too obvious and nicely disguised.

To transform this guy you can start by removing head and tail

    From there it's quite simple.

    Just add 1 head

You can reattach the head for some extra bulk if you wish

A downside of the creative beast mode is very hollow legs.

Despite that Skullcruncher does have a fair bit of posability

Ball jointed head, shoulders can move 360 around and 90 degrees up/down, bicep swivel, elbow joint, wrists fold in/out, waist swivel, hips can move into a splits position or 90 degrees front/back, thigh swivel, knee joint.

    Thanks for reading.

That gator mode is awesome, especially the head. Speaking of, why did you remove the head if it just goes right back on anyway? Is it actually instructed that you remove it?

what? the gator head seriously comes off for transformation?

also, those hollow bot mode legs totally could've been solved if they had the tail fold in there.

this went from buy to pass in an instant. what's the point of a transformation if half the figure comes off and reconnects in the process?

The head was my bad. I thought it became a weapon but it doesn't.

You can transform him without detaching the beast head,

He has to be my most wanted figure from the first wave! Love the croc mode and the robot mode is just a plus! Now can we get a City of Steel repaint as Optimus Prime? Please Hasbro?

:lol  You just ripped the poor guy's head off for no reason.

"No, the OTHER head! The OTHER O-!" *rip*

Or if the beast mode legs went in there.

Thanks for the reviews! Other than the hollow legs, what makes you feel he's the worst of the wave?

It's too bad the beast legs don't flip inside the legs to make them not look hollow.

Question: can the tail be stored anywhere in robot mode? It's a terrible weapon and I really don't want to have to set the accessory aside every time I mess with him in robot mode.

I have him, and immediately I had a problem. His Grax flap is so bendy (I mean it's just super soft rubber) that if it's pushed in too far (ie closed too much) it's impossible to open up with your finger/fingernail and you need to use a small tool to hook it back up again.

Aside from that, love this guy. His collector card even has Skullcruncher's specs on the back, and when boosted with Grax!

His robot legs are super hollow though, and I suspect will impede posing in robot mode.

    Edit
Hey guys! I'm just like you!

Well I did say best and worst.

The Beast mode is fantastic. The robot mode seems to be lacking by comparison. Might be the legs I guess. Still a good deluxe.

His legs are undeniably hollow. But I found you have to make sure his green knees are clicked in place so his knees are single jointed (and not double) otherwise they become a floppy mess.

Also, his 'shield' thing becomes a Swamp Skiier boar thing for Grax (who properly tabs in place)... and if you invert the gun it not only comes into reach of Grax but it also mounts at an angle so it's now level.

    That's a freaking nice touch.

Good to hear that you don't actually need to remove the Crocodile head in order to transform him

This guy looks great. Definitely the figure I'm looking forward to getting most from the first wave

It would've been nice if the rear crocodile legs could have rotated around on a hinged joint to fill in the back of the robot legs, a bit like some of the Planet X Dinobots, but honestly it's a minor issue for me. Can't wait to pick this guy up

G1 Headmasters always, always had a problem where the Transformer had no robot mode without his Nebulan head right? Well, TR Skullcruncher has that problem licked.

    Love it.

Pity I have no connection to the character.

Would be that push to make me buy him.
