ROBOT MODE




Didn't plan on picking this Twinferno up (I prefer this name to Doublecross), only wanted Triggerhappy. But when I saw the robot mode in package it just seemed cool yet doofy enough to be a smidge lovable. His feet are massive, and have a somewhat loose swivel on his left one, but not to the detriment of either mod and he stand solidly. I love how he seems to have the saddest crotch of any robot ever, so dour.

His hands are daft and I think they're brilliant. Completely impractical and I just imagine him walking around the Lost Light, turning to each and going " S'oright? S'oright. Soright? S'oright. S'oright? S'oright" infinitely. It's the Lost Light, people do that sort of thing there

Silly wings on the back look pretty decent in this mode to, give him a nice silhouette. Head sculpt is decent. A little plain with the white but the eyes have a nice blue to them that really stands out. You can peg his guns in to his hands, or like in the photo, they peg in to this shoulders. I prefer that, allows the hands to be used for puppetry.

Beast Mode




This is both kinda cool and stupid at the same time. The Transformation to this is kinda predictable but I like the way his robot feet fold out to become the upper legs to bring out the beast feet. But the torso feels a bit too tall. I'm sure it was necessary for the titan master to fit in the cockpit, but it just feels like that little bit stretched. The dragon mode arms, while accurate to the G1 toy, feel like they should have been longer, paradoxically. However the head s look here and ‘;ve just noticed they have tounges sculpted in them. Fun. His gun can combine and fit on his back. Overall I kinda get a Kaiju look to this, and by that I mean a guy in a suit. It's fun but the robot mode out shines it.

 

oh wow - just noticed they even included the spark wheel/buzzsaw on the chest of the G1 toy - that's fanservice for you!

But seriously, yeah this guy is great. I still think he's the weakest of the three new molds this wave (Triggerhappy is objectively the best, but I prefer Hot Rod), but that just shows how strong this wave really is. TwinFernow is just a delight to handle. Also, his head doesn't look too bad on Astrotrain. If they made a white Astrotrain, that head would be perfect for a G1 toy look.

Also, I'd LOVE to see more of the Battle Beasts represented in Titan Master form.

I find this figure to be a bit of a mixed bag. There are things I really like about it (namely the transformation) and there are things I'm not to found of (pieces won't tab together properly in beast mode). If you're a fan of the monsterbot, get it. If you have no real connection to the character it's probably better that you give it a pass. Focus on Triggerhappy because, DAMN, that is the best TR figure evah!

 

Oh definitely. Triggerhappy is the best figure of the line so far and apart from Sixshot I'm not sure if anyone can outclass him.

 

Twinferno's Titan Master partner seems kinda inaccurate to me compared to the anime...

 

I want to ship my POL so bad...but I have some more things in the way. Doublecross was one of my most cherished Transformers toys and I am stoked to see this guy updated. Seeing the saw blade in the chest is just the icing on top.

This is my most sought after figure in this wave and I can't wait to get mine in hand.

 

See, I think the transformation is creative as all hell. The problem is the end result, which like you wrote, doesn't tab together at all.

 

I want to buy this toy because I feel so sorry for his crotch and I want to know why it's so sad.

 

he's not sad! more crotchety if anything

 

I'm not sure why his crotch is sad. On an entirely unrelated note, he has mouths for hands.

 

You can connect the guns, with the pegs facing down and use it as a dual cannon.

Lothar, you've got the crotch plate in the wrong place in animal mode!

 

You won't be disappointed. Great figure. Easily one of my favorites. He looks awesome and has a fun Transformation.

He looks like he stepped right out of the G1 animation for the toy commercial.

And note to those having issues getting the beast mode to tab together: another boardmember gave a picture tutorial on how to tab it together correctly to where it's nice and solid. I believe it's in the Titans Return Appreciation thread.

 

Indeed. And here it is. It requires a bit of force to get it to clip, but mine clicks in with a nice, solid click once it does. The only problem is the two halves of his tail tip don't want to stay clipped together once the hips are pegged in.
