he doesnt looks as cool as high brow in bot mode, and bot cars are a dime in a dozen, but his transformation scheme is really well done.

Transforms nicely, things hold tight and peg in well in car mode. Robot mode soft ratchets work sufficiently, very poseable with the giant feet, headmaster has pin in hip so nice and solid. Head plugs in well with mini head in either direction, though face forward might be easier. Pin/rivet joints pretty tight.

Up there with blurr as far as engineering is concerned, things seems to peg in as designed.

The plastic colours do have a bit of a cheap look, especially that red, we are never going to get back that solid G1 engineering or quality but for the most part he's a fun enough toy, should be durable in a kids hands.

Just got Wave 2, and immediately opened Chromedome as he is my FAVORITE headmaster and in my top five bots of all time.

OK, let me start off with this. I love G1 Chromedome, but HATE IDW Chromedome. So I do not like this "Visor" that IDW have given him in robot mode.

He is a straight up remold of the Combiner Wars Dead End / Off Road / First Aid / Prowl / Smokescreen etc... to infinity. So he is awesome for the most part, but has the same limitations of this mold : Short upper arms (elbow is too high), and in car mode, the door has those sections of "unpaintable plastic" so on Chromedome, the nice section of beige that he would have running the length of his mid panels is broken up, and is an eyesore to Chromedome fans.

Now, Stylor. Stylor, Stylor, Stylor... Where is your paint buddy? All of the other clones of you have paint. Your clone that comes with Blurr has paint, You killed Arcana, and replaced him with your clone but at least he has paint... but you. The ORIGINAL Stylor... have no paint. WTF Stylor? F U Hasbro. Stylor looks WORSE than a cheap McDonald's toy.

Accessories. OK, this is where I am really pissed. Where are Chromedome's Guns???? Why on earth does he have Blur's gun? Why??? I have to imagine that Chromedome has his own sprue, so they could have at least given us ONE of his G1 guns. I would have bought two Chromedomes, so that he could have both of his guns... But this?? What is this? And seat gun... ok sure, its a gimmick of the line. Whatever.

OK, well that is a bummer, he has a clone of Blur's Gun... Well at least I can peg the gun to the roof like the G1 figure. Phew... Wait... Wait a minute... No posts on the roof??? UGH, I give up. At least you can wedge the gun in the "square" bit where the canopy rests in bot mode.

IDW didn't give him a visor, the G1 cartoon did.

Also, he is not a remould of Deadend, just shares nearly the exact same engineering. Like a G2 Smokescreen/Energon Starscream deal.

The "skeleton" is EXACTLY the same dimensions. The arms are exactly the same length, shoulders the same width, the legs too. He is a 100% remold.

Except he isn't, because they don't share a single part. That makes him a new mould, because ever part is new.

If anything, he's a remould of Blurr, as they share parts.

This is laughable. Re-engineering is not what this is. All of the critical dimensions are the same. I am not going to restate all of them. I came up with the cutesy term "100% remould" to address this case.

There are similar instances yes, other Transformers have used similar Transformations (I like your example of G2 Smokescreen, G2 Hooligan, and Energon Starscream), but at a completely different scale, and the relative dimensions of the limbs were different.

However this is not one of those cases. They even have the "non-paintable" plastic near on the elbow in the same exact location as Combiner wars mould, with the same exact cut, and same exact dimensions.

    Yep. 100% Remould.

The U.S. G1 Cartoon did, this is true. But... he looks nothing like the G1 Cartoon version, and is precisely like the IDW version (albeit red visor instead of yellow). It is literally this image:

It's still not a remould, dude. They need to share parts. That's where the "re" part comes from. If they don't share parts, it's not a remould, because they didn't change or add moulding to an existing figure, they made an entirely new one. Whether the exact dimensions are the same makes no difference, it is a 100% different figure from Deadend. You can't refute what is fact.

This is not even the first case of toys with nigh-identical dimensions to their parts that aren't actually remoulds, as seen here: Retool - Transformers Wiki

Re: The visor, I thought you were implying IDW came up with the idea to give him a visor, since you didn't just say IDW head. Though if it makes you feel better, the head's colours are based on G1 cartoon, so it's still a mostly G1 toon inspired figure. Also, he does resemble the G1 design in the head, given that the IDW version is still based on the G1 toy and cartoon designs.

I like Chromey, he does share engineering with the Prowl/Dead end mold, but that's it. He's all new parts. He's nice, but I don't like how the wheels on the hood limit his shoulders. Can't wait for some sales to make some customs from this mold.

Do you know what 100% means? It is also a retool. I was being cute. Calm yourself.

Also you don't need to make me "feel better". It is ONLY a IDW head with red instead of yellow visor. That is indisputable. The IDW design itself has some similarities to the G1 toy design and the G1 cartoon design. Look at the image I posted. That is EXACTLY what we got aside from the color of the visor.

I feel like the first person to say "calm yourself" in a simple discussion where both parties are outwardly peaceful is the one who's actually in need of taking a breath.

You just said exactly what I said. The head is absolutely the IDW design, but since said design was itself inspired by the G1 character, it's easy to ignore. I doubt anyone familiar with G1 Chromedome's who doesn't know of IDW would even assume it's based on anything but the original character, merely modernized along with the rest of the toy.

Also the toy's visor is blue not red.

I am not the one who has their dander up because someone dare say "100% remould" instead of retool. "Calm yourself" is a completely understand response from someone who feels like they are being attacked.

Tis true, I don't know why I am thinking red. He is driving the card mode, and I didn't check first. Red would have been weird too. Oy.

It's not a "re"-anything, at least as far as Combiner Wars is concerned (the toy contains parts re-use from Titans Returns Blurr, as stated before).

Words mean things. And if you insist on using them, then learn how to do so.

The mold also contains critical differences from the Dead End mold, namely the cockpit pieces that move to the legs, and that the toy has dedicated foot parts and not just a molded toe ridge.

They mean the same thing, though.

Nobody once even mentioned the difference between remould and retool, so I don't get what you're so upset about.

Holy jeez, do people still think Chromedome is a remold of Dead End?

BTW, I think by "100% remold," he means than 100% of the mold was retooled, in which case it's not even a retool at all anymore. It really is just another freaking case of shared engineering, which some people still refuse to accept. Maybe they're still salty about CW. (Would you rather have had them all be redecos?)

Holy Roman Empire, the auto correct on this foreign device I'm posting on is a nightmare.

No one cares how you "feel." Try thinking instead of feeling.
