Just picked this up. I noticed no one mentioned it but he has no wrist articulation. Sad. Sucks. He is great otherwise.
I really liked this figure in all modes and I was surprised how much more than PM Optimus Prime I was impressed by them. The only thing is his battle base mode, it may be just me but I would have loved to see it done instead as a nighclub installation. The cassette slot could have been a DJ booth, the speaker pads as dance floors, the cannons as coloured spotlights etc - would have been great for The Knights of Unicron to perform at! My full review of Leader Class Blaster and PM Optimus can be found here
The robot mode is awesome. No complaints about anything else. the other two modes are fun. Wish I had some of the tableticons to show off with it.
It does indeed! It's the best way to connect him to Max IMO. It creates room for the helipad, which in turn supports the elevated section in addition to the ramp connection.
Just got big boy blaster. He is quite heavier than I expected. In fact, after I cut all the plastic bands holding him in his tray, I tried lifting him out but met some resistance. My first thought was that I missed one of the bands but it was due to his weight. Good solid plastic that feels durable and an all around great figure so far. Haven't had time to transform into boom box or base mode yet.
Has anybody found a way to attach his faux-tape when you have a minion tape in his chest? I think it's a bit of a shame it only pegs onto the tape deck handle one way, as it is is juts too far up to be a back pack for me.
Blaster is pretty fantastic. Alt modes are very fun, but Bot mode can stand next to my MP10 and MP autobots just fine. VERY nice bot mode.
in theory i could probably make wrist articulation for him... but i need a set of hand drills as mine went missing id make a guide though if i got another set but gotta wait on money atm. ima guess though itll be the same as when I had to articulate the wrists for CW Magnus. slice off, create peg, push through, done.
I was actually going to pass on this guy. But after getting him I can't believe I was going to. He's easily one of the best Leader Class figures I've gotten in a while.
For all of you out there wanting a G1 re-incarnation, he's your 'bot! Definitely as blocky as you can get especially the upper body. There is a lot of weight from his thighs up, lower legs are light compared to the rest of him. The helmet gimmick is awesome: put Twin Cast on the body, place helmet over him, love the way it locks into place. Chest door reminds me of G1 features, push button/door opens. I can't believe they gave him USB ports that accept a real USBs, how cool is that! His gun could be bigger, but is faithfully replicated. Joints are solid. I would have like to seen the boombox handle as a removable feature, guess I won't look at the back of him. The feet/legs took a while to find the right angling so he would stand. I haven't had the time to transform yet. Wiff da boyzzzz
Definitely surpassed my expectations. I mainly got it because it was a Blaster that wasn't just a redeco/mold of a Soundwave (of course they're just vice versaing it... sigh... To be expected, but I really miss how they were completely different originally) but wound up really liking it. And hey, the helmet gimmick actually works really well on this guy, even turning his head seems perfect, unlike a certain reformatted Decepticon leader.... And I haven't even touched the base mode yet.
They're alternate positions for you to connect other Leader & Titan class base mode ramps to him. Plus the storage peg pre-tooled to store Soundwave's Shoulder Cannon in Beatbox mode.
When this has happene on mine I've usually found I've mis transformed it and tried to pass the black piece that connects front to back of legs through the wrong hole in the ramp.
Okay, thanks. Wish they weren't there. And I'd like a bigger rifle. Oh well, overall he's a solid looking toy.
I...sigh. I was really really looking forward to this guy. Maybe I got a bum one? My first big problem with it is that all of the Titan Master pegs in base mode are too thick to peg any of my Titan Masters on. Like, not even close. Also, maybe I'm transforming the boombox mode wrong, but the speaker panels feel like they want to pop back open, and the robot feet don;t stay in place on either side. As far as I can tell, everything's transformed correctly. Finally, the left thigh's mushroom peg came so warped that a mere quarter-turn of his left peg and the leg works itself out of the slot and falls off. I bought this from TRU online, so I can't easily return it. Which is very frustrating for a $50 toy.
Just got this guy for the Walmart Canada price of 34us dollars and I have to say I'm quite happy with the purchase. Thick, chunky, great articulation. I'm thinking his base mode looks more like an elaborate dj stage.
