I'm a big fan of the Titanium toy series and was a bit upset we didn't get any for ROTF. It would have been nice to have a Mixmaster or Longhaul.. but have we seen the end of this line, at least for the movie-verse?
Actually, we did get a couple of store exclusive 2-packs in the early parts of RotF. Personally I don't think we'll see any more. The TF Titanium line has been over for a while now, and with no sign of it returning. If we do see any more, they'll probably be store exclusive repaints like the RotF 2-packs. Would be cool to see some more non-movie one's, imo, though I'd settle for more non-movie Robot Heroes instead, tbh. Especially if it meant we'd finally get the RID Prime vs. Megs 2-pack.
Umm yeah, unfortunately I think the 3-inchers are long gone. We never got the G1 Soundwave and Cliffjumper and Alternators Sunstreaker that have pics released and/or were easy repaints (the latter two). Even with the movie's popularity, I'd be stunned if new molds suddenly appeared. I was surprised when the two-packs suddenly appeared at Toys R Us last year, and those were simple repaints. I love the little guys, but I gave up on any more appearing awhile ago. I like them a lot more than the Robot Heroes.
Titaniums were a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE failure for Hasbro. The TF ones just happened to hold on a little longer than the others. But they are all dead now.
The Star Wars stuff managed to limp along until last year, but Transformers Titanium product has effectively been dead since the first movie.
I think the Star Wars ones are the only kind that did well. It makes sense, since the ships are static designs while TFs always had some dumb looking pose. I think they were effectively replaced by Robot Heroes.
Unfortunately, doesn't look like we'll be getting any more 3" Titanium TFs. Which is a shame... I was hoping that they would come out with a 3" Titanium Movie Barricade.
You're semi-right. Bumblebee and Jazz were repainted into Cliffjumper (shocking, I know) and Dead End (not sure how they came to that conclusion) in one two-pack. The other two were were "Rescue" Ratchet and Desert Brawl, and "Offroad" Ironhide (who looked virtually the same as the original Movie Ironhide 3-incher) and Blackout (nope, no Grindor repaint, and it looked like the exact same paint job as well).
